To find people who use Facebook like this cringy?

The people who say "Facebookers, I need good restaurants in Liverpool for tonight. And go!"

Or "I need a filmmaker/musician/photographer for a job. Send me your CV ASAP" (they don't even say what the job is, never mind the hours/location/pay)

I do work part-time in a creative industry with lots of freelancers and we often help each other out, (e.g. "can anyone recommend a good website builder/accountant? Thanks") but I find this approach so entitled and demanding. And what's worse is that people actually comment, it's like they're falling over themselves to answer posts. So I cringe for the poster and the keen responders.

Am IBU?

YANBU but I prefer the word cringeworthy Wink

Trills · 18/08/2017 20:24

I agree, cringeworthy is definitely the word

serialweightwatcher is exactly right - it's affected. They aren't really looking for recommendations, they're making sure everyone knows they're going out for a meal.

If you want recommendations surely you actually ASK a friend who lives in the area/is a big foodie/works in the industry. This can't possibly be all your fb friends.

My SIL uses fb as if it is google or trip advisor.
Where is, when does, where can I get, selling X need gone
The Ines that annoy me the most are when they've left it to the last minute. Your step kids are coming for a week tomorrow and now you're asking what to do with them?!

Yes they sound like bossy show offs!

I do think people sometimes really do want suggestions or a favour and Facebook is an easy way to reach a lot of people at once. Or am I being naive Hmm

Anything with "(And) Go!" in it is guaranteed to get my back up. Consequently, I ignore those sorts of posts.

But a polite request such as "I'm after recommendations for a nice afternoon tea place. Can anyone please suggest a place in (locale). Thanks!" is fine.
