To want the next two weeks to hurry up

So this year the school holidays has certainly not been fun!
Only being able to work nights.
Fighting siblings.
Boredom.
Messy house.
Car journeys from hell.
To much money spent on overcrowded parks and softplays.
Making that simple shopping trip into a nightmare deal.
I have very much enjoyed my time with my dc it's nice for us to do stuff as a family of course. But is there anything you are all very much looking forward to ;) or miss doing lol!

Think your self lucky ds2 has three weeks left they are doing some building work at his school so he gets an extra week but yeah I feel your pain😢

Crunchymum · 18/08/2017 18:38

We are back on 7th. It's ages away.

Rainraingoawayagain · 18/08/2017 18:45

Oh lord well we had a teacher training day on the day before break up which was in my opinion a JOKE
And there is another on the Monday that they are supposed to return so they instead go back on a Tuesday!
Seven weeks off clearly isn't enough therefore them two extra days is very much needed NOT! Yea I'm mad lol! Just think it's too bloody long! Even for the kids!

I normally love my two being off and ds loves his sisters being around 24/7 but this bloody rain has put a dampener on us all. It's the first time during hols that I have been working this rota (4-12am) so I'm tired and grumpy for the first couple of days. Dd1 is nervous about starting high school so it emotional and ds is two and just a typical two year old. They are driving me up the wall but I will hate it come September when they are back in school!

I'm looking forward to deep cleaning my house and resuming my exercise/beauty regime...I'm a right mess at the moment!

Schroedingerscatagain · 18/08/2017 19:18

I'm really looking forward to the next 2 weeks

After DS having emergency surgery 2 weeks ago he is finally on the mend and we will all be off for a lovely family holiday before both teens go back to school

You and me both. I'm a supply teacher so I don't get paid for the summer holidays and am therefore skint. My children are bored, despite me trying to do as much as I can with them, and they are getting on each other's nerves as well as mine. I am fed up with spending what feels like all day cooking, cleaning, washing, wiping, tidying and doing the laundry only for the house to still look like a bomb site at bedtime. I am looking forward to September, especially as I'm not going to be available for work for the first couple of weeks so I'll have two weeks of absolute silence for 6 hours each day!

YAVBU.

We are away on holiday on Monday to get some sun. I hope it goes very s l o w l y indeed Grin

I'm a teacher so I love the summer holidays as a way to refresh for work, but as a mum it's completely draining with soft play and the endless nagging. Today the wifi went down and it was like Armageddon. We baked cakes in the end, saved us all, but it was a close call.

Everyone says 'ah 6 weeks off, it must be so nice!' And I always reply 'I am just changing one 50 hour a week job for another...' obviously in a lighthearted way, as I do quite like my kids when they're not fighting or whining so don't pounce on me!

Rainraingoawayagain · 19/08/2017 00:48

Lol glad it's not just me then! I think I like my routine a bit to much :)

I have children in two different schools, and they get different summer holidays. One finished May 26th and the other two go back Sept 5th. By then I'll have had children at home for 15 weeks, while also holding down a nearly full-time WFH job.

I love them dearly, but I can't describe quite how much I'm looking forward to waving goodbye at 8am, then making myself a cup of coffee and drinking it in peace.

NoqontroI · 19/08/2017 01:10

Ahh. I've been working all summer so the kids have been in childcare /clubs. I've got the next 2 weeks off and I'm really looking forward to spending some uninterrupted time with them. I may however feel differently by the end of it....
