To think £29 for a 30min swimming lesson is daylight robbery?

Enquired into some 1-2-1 swimming lessons for my two young children. Nearly cried when they emailed back the cost.

I don't know what I was expecting, probably half that. They do get slightly cheaper the more you book.

Is this normal? If both kids take the maximum of 20hrs then it will cost us £1800 Shock

Thinking I'm going to have to bite the bullet and teach them myself (our local pool is a freezing, dirty hole of a place).

The price doesn't sound unreasonable to me for 1 2 1.

I lay £24 for 1-2-1 swimming for my ds. It's during public swimming though.

Group lessons are £30 a month and there can be 8 in a group.

Swimming lessons from school vary hugely Going. Most tend to leave it until KS2 - and often about Yr5 - by which time the dc can dry and dress themselves in the miniscule amount of time you get before you have to leave the changing rooms.
By then, a lot can already swim, although that will depend on the catchment of your school - I've taught dc who had never been to a swimming baths before we took them with school.
I wouldn't rely on school lessons for them learning to swim though.
