We're taking them up to OH's parents tomorrow, staying the night (it's DD's 4th birthday tomorrow), and then OH and I are heading home ALONE on Sunday.

Kids will be away till next Sunday.

I have loads planned..meal out with OH, drinks with friends, seeing my mum and brother, getting my hair done..oh and divine peace and quiet, no squabbling/being woken up at 5.30am/refereeing endless bickering between DD and DS (6)/picking up toys etc etc

The kids will have a great time with the g/parents too..MiL is an ex-teacher and always has loads planned.

One of my friends said 'oh I'll bet you'll really miss them'...errr no!

I love my children, but fuck me I'm looking forward to a child-free week Grin

PS It's an excellent bonding opportunity for the DCs and the DGPs. To be honest, you're giving a great gift to both parties. Feel proud, OP, feel proud.

I rarely miss DS when he is away (he goes to cadet camps a lot) but DH says it's not the same without him. If I'm honest I don't notice the difference - he's 17 and spends 95% of time in his room or raiding the fridge, and is monosyllabic if I try to engage him in conversation. That said, we are leaving him at home while we go away for a week soon and I'm feeling a bit guilty and think I will miss him while we are away.
