To think DH should go to minor injuries

DH woke up in the small hours of this morning complaining about testicle and abdominal pain. He's gone to work and is sore unless sitting completely still. He said it felt like he was kicked in the balls and he definitely hasn't.

Dr Google suggests any sudden onset significant testicle pain should be considered testicular torsion until proven otherwise and torsion can be a real problem as the testicle blood supply has been cut off.

DH has insisted all will be fine and it'll go away on it's own. AIBU to insist he goes to see a medic at minor injuries?

Hoes he doing?

PollyFlint · 18/08/2017 18:16

Was just about to to chip with GET HIM TO BLOODY HOSPITAL NOW but I see he is now finally on his way. Hope it isn't torsion but if it is, fingers crossed it'll be caught quickly enough. Best wishes to you both and hope your weekend is less stressful than today must have been!

Hope he is ok and it was nothing major but definitely better to be safe than sorry with sudden onset testicular pain!

We're home. The doctors think it's an infection causing nerve pressure but we're under strict instructions to go back if it gets worse or is still problematic on Monday. He's moving very gingerly and clearly in a fair bit of pain so I've dosed him up on paracetamol and ibuprofen and am watching him like a hawk. He did admit to really struggling to walk to work and having to stop and swear every so often so I know what to look out for.

Fingers crossed we don't have to go back, but as we were whisked straight through to see a doctor rather than left in the waiting room forever I think we were absolutely right to take it as seriously as we did.

That's good news, lovely to hear but keep a firm eye on him and take care of yourself too

Unless you have an injury to explain it testicular pain should always be treated as an emergency. It could be a problem with blood supply as you noted or it could be cancer. Whatever it is it's moronic to not seek medical help. At the very least tell him to call 111 so that they can tell him to go. He could looose a testicle over this!

Sounds like what my son had - he was initially told infection and only when I realised it was getting worse not better did I take him to A&E where they diagnosed Hydatid of Morgagni.

It's basically a tiny internal flap of skin that can randomly get twisted. The pain isn't as bad as testicular torsion but my son's ball became enormous and red and hot. He had surgery where they cut it and was fine after that.

Bear it in mind in case things don't improve.

Thanks running I will certainly bear that in mind.
