They should stop describing attackers as terrorists and just call them criminals.

To describe people as terrorists implies there is some greater cause or end goal they're fighting for. For the most part these days it seems they just want to kill people.

but I also think that there will always be violent weirdos that want to hurt people, if they weren't claiming to be killing for Islam they would find some other reason to do it
Which means if no bombs were dropped in Muslim countries these murders would still slay innocent people in the streets. These murderers are what they are - pure and simple - murderers.

I understand the sentiment - not to validate their objectives or seem to be elevating them above "common criminals". To deny that they are causing us terror could be to refuse them power over us.

It might make me feel better to describe them that way, but I don't know what effect it would have on them.
