Have you filled the hols so far with days out or mostly cheap days in the park or at home etc?

I openly admit I'm wanting to do a comparison to see if our summer holidays are boring and cheap compared to everyone else's.

OP posts:
cpjoli · 17/08/2017 20:44

We had a week at a haven park , zoo , thorpe park, sleep overs , he had a week at his nanas. Spent lots of time chilling or in the park. We are hopefully due to move soon so lots of cleaning and decluttering.
Got a few days away next week then back to work ! It's gone pretty quick here.

rainbowpie · 17/08/2017 20:47

We've spent most of it in the house/garden. I had loads planned but DD isn't interested and is enjoying quiet time. We had a week away on holiday but most days involve playing in the house, a few cartoons around lunchtime then playing in the garden. I asked her earlier if she wants to go to a farm tomorrow. She said she wants to do some jigsaws and play in the sandpit with her baby brother.

Elllicam · 17/08/2017 20:53

National trust places, zoo, overnight trip to Edinburgh, cinema, play dates, picnics, parks, a lot of soft plays, a week away in the north of Scotland. We are in Scotland though so have just finished the summer holidays.

Llanali · 17/08/2017 21:03

Too many dog competitions- championship circuit- all over the U.K., with associated visiting and staying with friends or relatives.

Lots of pony shows and competitions; average twice a week.

1 x trip for afternoon tea with her Grandad
1 x wedding with relatives- so the kids played all day
1 x national trust park day
1 x dinosaur park day
1 x cinema- cars 3

All the standard cake baking/park trips and garden games- we have trampoline/bicycles etc.

Still to come is a 3 day 2 night trip to the Cotswolds with cousins for water sports and playing.

DD is 3.

firawla · 17/08/2017 21:14

We've done hardly anything and spent loads of days at home / garden. I feel really bad and that we should have done more, but kids have been happy enough at home.
They did a couple of different holiday clubs first two weeks, and couple of play dates, we've seen cousins too and they went to gullivers and mini golf, but that's about it. We have a week away planned at end of holidays, and were supposed to be visiting family this week but that fell through. A lot of our plans haven't worked out - rained off, or one of them got ill and had to cancel play dates etc. They've supposed to been in swimming weekly as normal but have been asking not to go, so ended up missing that too (and library as it's attached to swimming...)
Dh has been working away the majority of the holiday and I'm trying to juggle older kids with baby who hates car travel etc. I do feel quite shit about it. Will do better next year

Titsywoo · 17/08/2017 21:18

Random stuff really. First 3 weeks was days out with friends, trips to London, couple of days with grandparents each week while I'm at work. Currently at haven for the week and having a fab time. Next week picnic with friends, 2 days with grandparents, day in London, day at lido. The last week dh is off so we're doing lots of days out. It's been a great summer hols this year :)

foxyloxy78 · 17/08/2017 21:22

OriginalRhubarbGin · 17/08/2017 21:26

Two weeks in our touring caravan in Devon, that's our main holiday for the year, £450 for the pitch, food etc on top but would be the same as at home. Couple of medium expensive day trips for all of us from there, maybe £200 total tops. Scout camp for ds1 at £150. Cheap ish snorkelling course for both boys at £28 each. Sports camp for ds1 at £90 for the week, and couple of days for ds2 at £40. Cinema trip and lunch out for all of us. Couple of visits to local ice cream place.

Not our cheapest ever summer but not bad overall.

wobblywonderwoman · 17/08/2017 21:27

Today was fairly typical

Visiting niece and grandad
Library
Ice cream shop
Book shop

Mine are not quite primary age but mostly baking. Visiting

Playcentres. Coffee shops. Nothing major - few days away to the beach. No major attractions.

ceeveebee · 17/08/2017 21:30

I work pretty much full time so they've been in activity camps (gymnastics, football) and school holiday club for a couple of days a week, with grandparents for one day a week and then on my days off we've done Alton towers (CBeebies land), gullivers kingdom, and a couple of national trust places, and then we are going away for the next two weeks - cannot wait!

SleepingBooty · 17/08/2017 21:34

2 weeks in Spain staying with family. Chilling at home since: bought a badminton set for the garden, showing 80s movies (Ghostbusters 2 and Karate Kid). We've a weekend at Alton Towers before they go back.

Raver84 · 17/08/2017 21:55

We've travelled to various parks and country walks a different one each day almost. All been free except a few ice creams and the odd bit of change for parking. We had a rainy day at soft play that was dreadful.

Still want to do beach but waiting for the right weather. We've a weekend away booked for end of the summer.

Library loads to do reading challenge.

FlandersRocks · 17/08/2017 21:57

So far we've done:

Legoland for 2 days
Local science discovery centre (full day)
2 local fun days with bouncy castles/stalls etc
Local museum for a Knex building day
Big soft play centre
Trampoline park
Swimming
Football camp for one full day
Local freeplay scheme (afternoon) twice
Football tournament day
Parks/football/walks a few times
Beach and marina walks

We have two nights camping, Bristol Zoo and an afternoon of FootGolf left as 'big' outings then just more free play schemes/parks/cycling etc, so have fingers crossed for good weather.

I've also researched my arse off for vouchers and offers to reduce cost. Total price of Legoland was £58 for tickets for 2 days (4 people) and £39 hotel. Including parking, petrol, hotel and lunches/meals out, it came in at about £180 which is cheap compared to what I've read of other visits.

Marble2302 · 17/08/2017 22:00

We spent the first 14 days in Menorca then I have been back at work so DD has been in holiday club. I have a Wednesday and Sunday off work so I have taken DD bowling, swimming and to the cinema, we have had a few lazy days too.

Loulou2kent · 17/08/2017 22:03

Quite a bit, but we have the merlin pass so keeps costs down

different parks (streams to play in & sand etc)
Library reading challenge
Cinema
Bowling
Oxygen trampolining
2 days at Alton Towers
Warwick castle
Legoland
Craft days
Garden days
DVD days
Shopping for school stuff
And we're currently at my mums caravan this week so
The beach
Arcades
Fair rides
Swimming

Still planning to do chessington & maybe 1 more cinema trip & a couple of days out with friends & their kids.

They go soooo quickly! My two would probably be fine to be home all day, but I work term time from home, so the first chance I can get out the house I do!

Planning a few at home sorting days too in the last two weeks before it all goes back to normal.

IggyAce · 17/08/2017 22:28

We have done a mixture. We have visited several national trust places (have membership). Had a meet up at a local park with school friends. Visited family and then spent 2 days at Legoland. Swimming, trampoline park and library visits. We have also spent a couple of days at home baking, reading and building lego.

Are meeting friends at a park again next week, will visit another one or two trust places and probably go to the beach.

fakenamefornow · 17/08/2017 22:32
