The diamond ring post....

Seems the post about the OP not thinking the ring was big or expensive enough has been shared elsewhere, whether by the OP or staff at social media searching posts on these types of forums, just a reminder to think before you post as it can be shared on other places people may see Smile

Yup was on the Daily Mail the other day, lots of threads on here make it to the DM or to Matthew Wright's shoe

MakeTeaNotWar · 17/08/2017 09:55

There was also an online article for Glamour about it http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/engagement-ring-madness?utmsource=dlvr.it&utmm_medium=twitter

ThePinkOcelot · 17/08/2017 10:17

That's not the ring though. She said it was white gold.

2014newme · 17/08/2017 10:21

It wasn't a genuine poster

JadeT2 · 17/08/2017 10:30

Matthew Wright's shoe Grin

I don't like made up stories like this making women appear avaricious... kind of misogyny.
Loads of women wear neither wedding or engagement rings if they are wearing larger pieces or silver jewellery. I used to be married but i got heartily sick of a little pink stoned ring I had as I grew older.
Must say it was terribly overpriced at the time.
I am not that keen on diamonds and gold as I used to be, looks ostentatious. But each to their own.

It wasn't a genuine poster

Was it pulled? I missed that.

Edsheeranalbumparty · 17/08/2017 10:48

Yes, it seems like this was one of those posts that is deliberately outrageous specifically so that it can be shared on places like the DM and beyond, all to show that Mumsnet are unreasonable bitches, in turn showing that all women are unreasonable bitches.

Loadashit.

KenAdams · 17/08/2017 10:53

The one about the mum leaving her two kids at home alone all summer were shared on my local newspaper site yesterday

CardinalCat · 17/08/2017 10:53

Gosh, it's almost like the OP set the whole thing up to make a story out of it! Hmm

This thread will probably get nuked soon, being a TAAT, which is a shame as I think it is indeed a salient reminder that whatever you post on here (whether as a non-faking OP, or as a contributor to a thread which has been started by a fake or non-fake OP) is absolute daily mail fodder. Cunts.

diddl · 17/08/2017 10:56

It wasn't genuine?

Well I never!

I agree that TAAT shouldn't automatically be deleted.

Wish that MNHQ were as hot on getting TIO & TIW fixed!

Cocklodger · 17/08/2017 10:57

Everything you post online, be it mumsnet, Facebook, twitter etc. can be copied, screenshot, sent on to others etc etc.
if you really want privacy name change and edit a few details (I for one have done this, although I mostly have gone by cocklodger over the years) so if it is pulled you have a degree of deniability, but in the world of online once it's out there it's out. Don't say or do anything you wouldn't be prepared to tell everyone in your personal life would be my advice

deadringer · 17/08/2017 11:05

I saw it on my Facebook feed, a link from the Irish independent I think. Lots of men commenting on it, moaning about how false and greedy women are. Disgusting.

derxa · 17/08/2017 11:17

Completely made up

justanotheryoungmother · 17/08/2017 13:09

I thought it was a real post Shock

PollytheDolly · 18/08/2017 12:41

Just saw a link on Facebook to it. It's a joke because hundreds are commenting on it and it isn't even real!

OVienna · 18/08/2017 13:20

Yup I made the DM. With a caption.
