to start a PhD pregnant?

I accepted a fully funded PhD a few weeks back to start in Oct 2017. However I've just found out I'm pregnant. Totally unplanned and unexpected to be completely honest. But I know I could never have an abortion and though timing is not ideal, DP and I are excited nonetheless. WIBU to start my PhD knowing full well I'll need to go off on maternity in several months? Will my head even be in it when DC comes along? If I do start, how early do I need to tell my supervisor?

Yes regarding getting your name down for university nursery asap. I put DD2's application in when I was 8 weeks pregnant. We finally got offered a place just before her second birthday (which we didn't take up as she was settled with a childminder.)

Congratulations I would still do both. I found my PhD very flexible in terms of working the days/hours that suited me. If you're in a lab make sure you tell them ASAP, we had some nasty chemicals around x
