AIBU to be worried about DC

My dd is 18 months old this month however she still fits perfectly in 9-12 months clothes sizes. I try to feed her veggies, good food etc but I'm no super mom...she's eaten dessert a few times too many and I drink tea,not decaf :)
AIBU to think I should take her to health visitor to be sure she is growing well

I would take her & see what centile she plots on for weight & height. She may well be fine! My almost five year old still fits in 3-4 clothes but is perfectly healthy on 25th centile! X

My 10 year old was wearing 5 year olds shorts to school last term!
My boys have always been skinny and on the lower centiles.
Get her weighed and checked to be sure. Has she suddenly lost a lot of weight or has she always been small?

You can't be held responsible if she doesn't eat what you offer! Take her to see the HV if it will reassure you but not every child is a good eater - mine was an atrocious eater and was tiny but suddenly got the idea that solid food was essential and then never stopped growing - she now eats me out of house and home and towers above me though that's not difficult!

As for super mom; does any such being exist? I've never met one.

Ropsleybunny · 15/08/2017 17:39

What sort of size are you and her dad and other family members? Is there a trend? There's no harm in getting her height and weight plotted, if you're worried, she'll probably be fine.

It sounds like you're doing a good job with her meals, just make sure she has full fat dairy, as growing children need the fat, whereas fat bastards like me don't

My youngest was always a bit small and we were told to give her more full fat dairy. She loved pasta so she had an extra spoon full of cream on hers and full fat cheese. She also liked bananas and custard, so we used full fat milk and added cream. We got quite inventive, and she suddenly shot up!

She was quite chubby until 10 months old. Since then it's been one or two sizes below her age.

Kids' clothes sizes vary hugely. Asda have always been massive in my experience. I wouldn't worry about clothes size, only if you think there is a health/diet problem in some other respect.

Butterymuffin · 15/08/2017 17:42

Bet it's also related to activity levels. Mine shedded baby fat once crawling and walking.

littlemisssweetness · 15/08/2017 17:44

I would get her weighed for piece of mine but it's most likely fine!

Bigmomma28 · 15/08/2017 17:45

Her dad is not small and I'm not tiny either haha. I think I will take her to HV tomorrow to check her centile

Butterymuffin you may be right as she started walking around 10/11 months

There's no harm taking her to see HV but there's other things to consider. Where do you tend to buy her clothes. Some shops (next for example) seem incredibly generous with their sizing.. DGD still fits their 12-18 months at 2 and can still wear some of her 9-12 month shorts and trousers.

What are you and your partner like build wise?

Weight can level off at this age when they are more active and starting to have more solids than milk. Some toddlers seem to exist on tiny amounts and be healthy and lively..
