To think I haven't got the job?

I applied for an NHS job and had the interview Sunday 5th. They told me a week and I'd know but don't be certain it'd be a week. I still haven't heard 9 days later now and starting to feel I really haven't got it.

I really needed it, been out of work since April and getting this job would've meant being able to afford not to be homeless anymore and afford food without having to ask family for money and I just know I haven't got it

It's unlikely. I'd ring and ask for feedback. I hope something comes along for you. Flowers

If you go for interview they're legally required to tell you if you do or don't though. I just don't get why it's taking so long to know for sure

Did you apply using NHS jobs website? I was told at interview decision would be left on there if candidates couldn't be contacted

SuitedAndBootedd · 15/08/2017 12:09

Yeah I did. I've been checking emails, junk mail and the website. Radio silence. It wasn't just my interview on the day. They had some more to do over the next few days so maybe it's taken longer than they thought?

I had an interview on 4th August, involved a long presentation and travel and also have heard nothing. It's very frustrating!

No they're not.

Sorry, I do hope you have got it or something else turns up.

I went for a job interview and trial (not NHS) back in April, they said they'd be in touch within 3 days. Never heard anything, then out of the blue in July I got an email saying they had a start date for me Hmm Shock

I didn't take the job for a few reasons, which I can't go into on here, but I hope something comes along soon - fingers crossed for you!

Just ring recruitment and ask!

Gunpowder · 15/08/2017 12:37

Can you call or email?

Dear blah,
Thank you for seeing me for the position of xxx, I really enjoyed meeting the team. Has a decision been made on this role yet?
Many thanks,
Suited.

Some places just take an age, especially understaffed services like NHS, emergency services, HMP etc. Keep applying for jobs but check your emails.

I know from frustrating it is. My partner applied for a public sector position in Feb, interviewed in March, was offered the job in April and he's STILL waiting for a start date because the vetting agency are dragging their feet asking for documents he's already emailed to them three times over Hmm

I hope you get the job! Flowers

Aardfart · 15/08/2017 12:53

Hope you get it!

I'm still waiting to hear back from a three hour interview I attended back at the begining of July Angry Sad

NHS employers tend u let you know either way. They probably haven't made a decision yet.

MelvinThePenguin · 15/08/2017 13:02

Is there one vacancy or multiple vacancies? Sunday is an unusual day to interview for a single vacancy, even in the NHS. It's quite common for multiple vacancies, particularly in patient facing roles. I'm thinking something like Health Care Assistant?

If it is a single vacancy, it is quite feasible that they've not made a decision yet (particularly as they've said it might take more than a week- they have obviously foreseen something).

If there a multiple vacancies, it would be more unusual to wait this long.

Either way, they should tell you. It's really poor form not to and does nothing for their employer brand.

SuitedAndBootedd · 15/08/2017 14:26

It's for ambulance dispatchers so I think it's for a few positions. I can't see them interviewing over many days (what they said) for one vacancy

MelvinThePenguin · 15/08/2017 14:40

Yep. Will be multiple vacancies.

Did they ask you about training dates or anything like that? Sometimes if they're recruiting lots of people, they will have multiple courses for that role. It can then be a bit of a jigsaw to fit everyone in according to availablity based on notice periods/preferred location.

They could also be waiting until the end of the interview period to notify. A bit unusual, but I can see that they might want to do all the processing in stages. It is quite a lot of work when you're recruiting in bulk.

MadisonMontgomery · 15/08/2017 14:47

I have known NHS interviews be held over several days, but they do generally let you know this. I would just call, then you know one way or the other.

x2boys · 15/08/2017 14:53

Well many years ago as a newly qualified nurse the person that interviewed me forgot to tell me I had been successful it was only weeks later when i got a letter inviting me for a medical due to my success I found out that aside there are usually a few vacancies with these kind of interviews I maybe that they are waiting on a reply from a more qualified or experience candidate first it takes for ever from the interview process in till successful candidates start donut may not be over yet.

x2boys · 15/08/2017 14:54

So it not donut ffs*
