to be anxious about this? (car insurance related)

Yesterday I was sorting out my car tax which is due to renew automatically next month. My car has a valid MOT, is insured fully comprehensive and I have a certificate of insurance. The insurance is paid for and no payments have been missed.

Despite this, my car is showing as uninsured on the database that you can check online and the database that is used to check MOT and insurance before car tax is renewed.

My insurance company insist that it is not a problem, they can't explain why my car is showing as uninsured but they have sent a request through to get my car flagged as insured on the database. They have said that having a certificate of insurance will keep the police happy if I am stopped and that the police would phone them if I was stopped and they had checked the database to see if I was insured.

I renewed my insurance two months ago so it's not a recent renewal that hasn't filtered through yet.

I used to flag up as uninsured but I have a private plate.
Some of the older anpr wouldn't read it.

I think staying off the roads altogether would be a tiny overreaction if you are insured, OP

People have had their cars impounded despite showing their insurance certificate, and had to pay hundreds to release them.

Motor insurers themselves say you shouldn't drive if not registered as insured on the database.

(Yes, the "DNA" comment was a joke. Of sorts ...)

@user7841794168 that's the best idea. Just keep on at them and raise a complaint if you get no joy.

We've been fined by the DVLA for not being continually insured (thanks to a SORN mix up). Sadly the computer is now King which makes us very vulnerable to virus/glitches/malware etc. Sadly the law hasn't caught up to make instances like yours a plausible defence.

My insurance company are saying no such thing, apparently it's an offence if not insured even if your car is kept off road so they'd have to tell people to declare SORN surely?
