drives me nuts. three people there today. and there was at least 2 parking spaces literally across the road. I genuinely don;t understand why anyone ever thinks it's ok. especially people with kids. if I was mayor you'd get an on the spot £100 fine

of course there isn;t ! happens at every school ! there is a drop off zone outside our school , and it is overrun with people parking and getting out of their cars !

also, parking in the staff car park...

a teacher;s car was damaged recently by a parent reversing in, to avoid having to walk more than 50 yards to the school entrance....

no excuse at all in my book. so you are not being unreasonable

coppertop · 29/03/2007 17:09

Forgot to add that I agree with you, Hatwoman.

idlemum · 29/03/2007 17:55

The offenders just ''can't walk the length of themselves'' as a friend of mine puts it.

NannyL · 29/03/2007 18:53

it ameks me mad

thats why if a policeman sees you you have an instant fine AND 3 points on your license...

it IS that seriouse

grrr some people are SOOOOOO lazy

dan4han · 29/03/2007 18:55

Is it not dangerous too??

DANCESwithaTruckLoadOfMiniEggs · 29/03/2007 18:57

LAZY FCKERS...makes my blood boil when me and my 2 yr old ds have to edge out into the middle of the road to see if anything is coming because some wnker can't be arsed to walk 10 yards.

clayre · 29/03/2007 18:58

there was a mum parked on the zigzag lines outside dd school and she was arguing with a policeman that she could 'park where she bloody liked' cos the bell had rang and she was late, we didn't hang about for the outcomne!

NoodleStroodle · 29/03/2007 19:01

Hatwoman I am with you. Why is is that I can find a parking spot but lazy sods can't and think that the zigzags are just for them? I often stand and rant at them but try not to do itfront of DS as too embarrassing for him! If a big problem ring up your local council parking department and tell them where there are rich pickings - zig-zags are time controlled like yellow lines so parking man can at least give them a ticket.I love watching illegally parked mums scamper out of school when there is an attendent on the loose!

unknownrebelbang · 29/03/2007 19:01

I know of one mum who complained to the Chair of Governors about the cr*p parking on the narrow bend just above the school (no zig-zags but very dangerous).

This is the same mum who thinks nothing of dropping her darlings off on the zigzags - often while the lollipop lady is crossing other children.

aha! I have, this week done a parking survey with fellow ranting mother at ds's school.

what happens to our brains, parents, when we drive?!

unfortunately, although the info will be passed to the police, I don't think that anything will be done about it due to manpower, expense, unfeasability (if that's a word...)

We actually witnessed a small van drive up over the pavement to park on a small patch of green, narrowly missing another mother.

LilyLoo · 29/03/2007 20:59

Agree Hatwoman. We are lucky enough to have a designated car park yet still parents choose to park on the zig zags when there is room on the car park! Thus to avoid having to wait for the kids to cross through the school gates in front of them. God forbid they may have to wait for a milisecond

NorksBride · 29/03/2007 21:07

I'm astonished how many lazy and/or stupid parents there are at our school. They park on zig-zags, on a junction, on blind corners, next to the lollipop lady at the top of the road the school is in AND they do 3 point turns into the school entrance. And we have 2 parent car parks less than 5 minutes walk away

Every school newsletter reminds people to be responsible and now we even have a PCSO there a couple of times a week. It's hardly made any difference.

They need points on their licences (and more parents like me who point out their lazy and dangerous driving habits - I'm going to be so popular)

oatcake · 29/03/2007 21:10

my friend and I got a little bit of agro for what we were doing, certainly. But having been at behind that car reversing... well, it puts things into perspective.

If I had not had ds in my arms, he would have been seriously injured by a driver doing a three pointer, over the pavement and at least 6 ft onto someone's property, with me banging on the back of his window as he's chasing me onto their property...

hatwoman · 29/03/2007 21:10

what makes me even crosser is that if you arrive early there's ample parking - costs you 10p. and if you miss the spaces there's a bloody car park two minutse walk away. it costs 80p. don;t care how skint you are if you can afford the car you can afford 80p. hmm let's think about this 80p or child road accident on my conscience. not exactly difficult is it?

I have seen a guy park on them twice in the last couple of weeks and taking his son down to a class around the back of the school (out of sight of the car for a couple of minutes) and he LEFT A SMALL BABY IN THE CAR!!!!!! (I looked because I heard him say he must be quick because xxx is in the car)

Bet the mum doesn't know he does that eh!

I was tempted to go and find him and tell him there is smoke coming from the car/or its on fire!!!

Should I mention it to the school so they can have a word?

Itllfalloff · 13/06/2024 00:08

None. Unless you’ve fallen unconscious at the wheel…
