To find this place annoying

I live opposite a children's centre/library/and community hall all in one. Anyway every single Sunday they must do some kind of church service in there (despite not being a church) SOOOO loud I live across the road and it's so loud in my house, singing, shouting, instruments music. I mean they are at it now at full volume. I'm not religious anyway so find it annoying having to listen to it! Aibu to expect it to not be so loud?! (It goes on all morning)

Allthebest I live 2 streets away from a baptist church - in the past we could certainly hear them in our house. Not much recently which makes me think they've been to,d to whiten it down. But it is a clearly defined church.

Your friend living next door to a church is not really relevant unless the church was built subsequent to her buying or it's not clearly defined as a church.

Whiten it down is a very unfortunate autocorrect Blush. Quiten it down!

There is one near me and utvalso can be heard down the road. It's in an extension to a Methodist church. But I suspect the Methodist side of the building is a little more sedate!

You could try and speak to members of the church in the first instance. I am a Christian who goes to church regularly and I would hate to think we were causing distress to the community around us. It is insensitive of them, especially starting at 9am, but I would like to think they would be apologetic if you approach them.

Otherwise yes, you should approach the council. Churches shouldn't cause noise pollution any more than anyone else.

It is common for churches to hire community centres for services, btw. Or schools.
