To think I don't have time to exercise?

I really struggle to see when I'd fit it in. Typical day looks like this:

6.30 wake up
7 DH goes to work
7-8 get DC and myself ready for school/nursery/work
8-9 commute/drop off
9-5 work (30 mins lunchbreak)
Get home by 6
6-7.30 play and do bedtime, DH back from work
7.30-8.30 cook and eat
8.30-10.30 clear up, chores, admin, often extra work etc
11 bed

630a-7a? You're not getting your husband ready for work, are you?

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 12/08/2017 22:12

Exercise video at home in evening?
Start C25k from home, 30 mins run every other night once DH home.

It's doable.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 12/08/2017 22:12

5 days a week or 7?

Oysterbabe · 12/08/2017 22:12

I assume you / your husband don't work every day?

BarbaraBitchFace · 12/08/2017 22:12

Weekend? Wake up at 6 and do a 20-30 minute exercise video? Go for a 20 minute walk on your lunch break?

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 12/08/2017 22:13

Sounds like excuses to me

early30smum · 12/08/2017 22:13

Only time I can see is getting up earlier and doing it befor DH goes to work? Or find a class/go for a run/gym/swim once or twice a week when DH back from work and he cooks etc those nights?

sparechange · 12/08/2017 22:13

6:30am?
20-30 min HIIT video on YouTube 2 or 3 days in the week and then 1 or 2 weekend days

What chores do you have that take up so much time in the evening?!

BarbaraBitchFace · 12/08/2017 22:13

Surely 1-2 evenings a week you could spare half an hour?

Pinkvici22 · 12/08/2017 22:14

Get up at 5.30?

That's the only way I do it - my working day is longer (usually in work by 8.30, home 6.30 but also do 2-3 hours work most evenings from home) but otherwise have same commitments!

rebelnotaslave · 12/08/2017 22:14

Dh and I alternate on the after work/school bit. I get in at 6, go straight out for a run while he does bath/reading/homework etc. Back in time for tucking in. I shower while he does tea.

Other nights we reverse it.

Veterinari · 12/08/2017 22:14

7.30-10.30 assuming your DH can cook, clear up etc a couple of times a week?
30 day shred or a quick run at 6.30am?

BarbaraBitchFace · 12/08/2017 22:14

Does your DH fit in exercise? DH and I take it in turns to do the chores/bedtimes etc so we can go to the gym alternate evenings

ShowOfHands · 12/08/2017 22:14

Do it 6-7am or in an evening. Plus days you don't work. Or work it into your commute. Or do it with the DC.

You absolutely have time. Do you want to exercise?

Lj8893 · 12/08/2017 22:15

You could get up at 6am and do it then. Even 20-30 mins 4 times a week.

Or at the weekends? I'm assuming you're itinerary is just mon-fri?

Hayels · 12/08/2017 22:15

Go for a run at 6.30- back for 7.
Gym/class/run when DH gets home at 7.30 while he makes tea then eat when you get back?

Nancy91 · 12/08/2017 22:16

When you wake up. On your lunch break. While dinner is cooking. The half hour before you go to bed. Or swap something you do for exercising which is vital to your health. Now, instead of mumsnetting!

Stop making excuses!

lavenderbongo · 12/08/2017 22:16

I get up every weekday at 5.15 and go for a 30 minute walk (including a 10 min jog) with the dog. Was hard to start this habit but I now miss it if we can't go. My routine is similar to yours and this is the only time I can fit in the exercise.

wheresmyliveship · 12/08/2017 22:17

Surely DH could prep dinner at 7.30 so you could fit in half an hour, then you can wash up after while he has some time off?

littlepeas · 12/08/2017 22:17

Either get up earlier or go in the evening once your dh is home - he can put the dc to bed by himself a night or two a week, surely? I do 2x yoga classes per week in the evening and dh handles bedtime alone on those evenings - I support him so he can exercise too (tennis and runs) and often handle the dc alone in the evenings too.

SnowiestMountain · 12/08/2017 22:17

That's an excuse OP!! You can! I wait for DH to get home then he takes over with the DC's and prepares dinner, I go to a class twice a week one day from 7-8 and another from 7:30-8:30, we eat when I get back. I also go for a run on a Sunday morning, you could too! Grin

Vonklump · 12/08/2017 22:17

I used to exercise at six instead of getting up at half six. It took a small kick to get myself out of bed, but it meant by half six I was awake and ready for the day, rather than coming to as the children woke up.

I loved it.

Oysterbabe · 12/08/2017 22:17

Actually 2 hours every night for chores is loads. You could spare half an hour of that a few times a week.

Raver84 · 12/08/2017 22:17

Get up before you husband goes to work and do a 30 min dvd. Couple of runs or swimming at the weekend when you have some more time.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 12/08/2017 22:17

Get half an hour earlier, a decent run for thirty minutes and a quick shower.
