Two noises at once!

Anyone else find they cannot stand having two competing noises going on at once?

Specifically was just in the sitting room with OH and he had the football on tv, whilst playing a music video on his phone with a heavy bassline.

Makes me want to claw my own face off!

Another example is when I used to work in an office and they piped radio through speakers in the ceiling -fine- but that you'd have some wally playing a different station on their laptop speakers, not crazy loud but loud enough to hear both simultaneously.

Just me?

I can't stand things like that OP. I am deaf in one ear and I actually feel violent if there are too many noises at once!

Feel your pain OP.

I really struggle with any kind of background noise. I work in an open plan office and I quite often put my fingers in my ears to concentrate because the cacophony around me is horrendous.

The worst for me is a room where there are several conversations. I basically have to be next to the person to hear.

I do have some hearing loss as a result of childhood illness, I can't remember the details but I know (from many years of hearing tests in a soundproof room!) that I struggle most with low pitched noise.

Me too. Any one like me, re tv. Say you're watching a soap or drama and the characters are speaking but in the background (storyline) there is a tv or radio playing - really gets me cross as I can't work out what they are saying.....

I can't bear it either! I have to turn one or the other off. It was worst though when my sister had her tv on in her room (before I became one of those adult people with one of them husband things!) and the tv downstairs was also on the same channel, but through a sky dish. One has a slight delay and it was absolutely fucking infuriating. Quite why she couldn't have just watched the tv downstairs I will never know.

I'm the same with phone calls where you can hear yourself echoing down the line. It makes me want to peel my own face off when I can hear two things at once that all need my attention.
