To get rid of Ddog's bed?

Ddogs bed takes up space in our kitchen - which is already a bit cluttered with airers, the bin, the stool I need for top shelves etc.

I wouldn't begrudge it, but I can't remember the last time I saw her sleep in it, she sleeps on either the couch or in bed with me and DH. Her bed is a plastic pet carrier which gets used as a carrier once a week when visiting my folks as mum doesn't like dogs loose in her car. All the dog "advice" is to give them their own separate bed away from everyone, but she never uses it!

AIBU to get rid and replace it with a folding fabric pet carrier that can be tucked away between weekly excursions?

Can't you just move it out of the kitchen? Maybe she'd prefer a soft bed if she seems to prefer the sofa and the bed.

our dog has 3 beds, one plastic bucket type bed and two soft beds, he uses them all! Could be that she sees her carrier as "going to grandmas!"

The bed is pretty soft, it always has a blanket at the bottom that's been folded up multiple times. I don't know where else I could put her bed on the ground floor that it wouldn't just get tripped over, our house is pretty compact, shall we say, all the space gets used.

Hadn't thought of her associating "bed" with grandma, I could get her a foldaway carrier and a little cushiony bed I guess?

you could get her a cage as her bed with the door always kept open/removed. you can put a cushion in there and a blanket over the top of it to make it like a den. I have 3 dogs and 3 cages like this spread across the house for them, they all love them. They also double up as a sort of shelf - can put things ontop of them, I have one in my bedroom and use it like a bedside table Grin

I'd go with the little cushiony bed - one with sides she can rest her chin on since she sounds like more of a lap dog. Our two love those ones, but they are just so dirty I gave up and got one that can go in the washing machine easily.
