Just that, really. Yes, I know July was rather good but you can't really enjoy it as a kid stuck at school for 6.5 hours. Since the schools broke off, it's been awful. August has just been dire temperature wise. The rain is depressing. Rant over!! Hmm

Yes BazilGin
I agree.this year is the worst I think too.

c3pu · 11/08/2017 21:38

bazil

Yup, no excuses... You should remember the summer of 2007, Also known as the 18 month winter 😂

The only thing predictable about the weather is that it never does what it ought to. Never snows at Christmas, never sunny in the summer. Price we pay for living in one of the best countries in the world, apparently...

BalthazarImpresario · 11/08/2017 21:44

Its why we take our UK holiday at easter each year, in 6 years we've had 3 rainy days on our holiday.

Delatron · 11/08/2017 21:56

Just before the weather turned (14th July precisely). I went out and bought 3 new summer dresses. We'd had weeks of lovely warm weather, it seemed set to continue.

Wore them in Greece then packed them away.

It's rubbish but then we shouldn't be surprised.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 11/08/2017 21:56

I swear the weather was much warmer back in the '80s. I remember going back to school after Easter in a summer dress and never being cold. Summer holidays were spent outside all the time. It wasn't always scorching hot, but certainly warm and sunny. August always was one of the warmest months. Or maybe I just don't remember correctly!

I'd like a bit more sun, but at least it's not like the rest of Europe.

Minstrelsareyum · 11/08/2017 21:58

Bring back the 35° in June
Nope, I would rather this weather than sweltering heat, any day. You can't get away from heat but can put layers on** if it's cool.

Armi · 11/08/2017 21:59

I'm looking forward to those lovely, golden, warm autumn days we seem to get in recent years, where the light has changed but the sun still has heat in it.

BMW6 · 11/08/2017 22:06

Bet you anything we'll have another hot spell in September - last 2 weeks.
I've noticed the pattern over the last few years - really hot early and late Summer, crap in between.

Global warming, innit.

I'd still rather have this than hundreds and hundreds dying from heat.

MrGrumpy01 · 11/08/2017 22:09

I too am not a summer person but this weather is just dire. We are on holiday and the forecast is rain most days. Hoping to at least get to the beach tomorrow but well wrapped up. It is so autumnal it is untrue.

tigercub50 · 11/08/2017 22:09

YANBU - we live near the sea & haven't managed a single trip to the beach. It's been so depressing today, grey & raining. I think the weekend is meant to be ok & then it's back to wet wet wet 😞I agree that this year is particularly bad, although we did have that heatwave - everyone was then complaining it was too hot!

WeddingsAreStressful · 11/08/2017 22:13

It's been over 40C in my home country for weeks...I'd take this British weather over that every day of the week

SunnyCoco · 11/08/2017 22:14

Well, the uk is not famous for wonderful weather!
Buy a waterproof jacket and crack open the G&Ts x

Notcontent · 11/08/2017 22:16

Yes, I agree. I am in London and since two weeks ago or so it has felt like autumn to me. Even when the sun has been out it hasn't really felt like summer - there is a feeling of autumn in the air....

Gotanewusernamenow · 11/08/2017 22:17

I don't understand why they call it a 'heatwave'!!!

Supposed to be hot in summer innit?!

Timefortea99 · 11/08/2017 22:21

I live in SE - the last couple of weeks have been mixed but in the main it has been an okay summer. Warm and sunny (a few days of searing heat which I am not a fan of) and mainly cool nights. So, pleasant, not unbearable in the day, and good nighttime temperatures for sleeping.

VanillaSugar · 11/08/2017 22:24

I've put the log burner on and I'm wearing a massive cable knit cardi .

Delatron · 11/08/2017 22:26

Yes, I put the heating on the other day, early summer was good but August has been utter shit.

Mittens1969 · 11/08/2017 22:27

We had some very hot weather here in Leeds in June/July, but never prolonged. August has been depressing. The last few summers have been like that, good weather during term-time and not in the holidays.

Hopefully we'll have some summer weather when we're away on holiday in a week's time.

Delatron · 11/08/2017 22:27

Also it's not just the last couple of weeks it's been a month now. SE.

ItsAllHarmless · 11/08/2017 22:29

YANBU! It's so miserable here we've had the heating on. Off on hols in UK Monday and can't see the weather getting any better.

MrGrumpy01 · 11/08/2017 22:32

As I said I am on holiday. I just fiddled with the room stat and the heating kicked in at about 14 degs. It is now up at 18 degs and the rads are coming on. Absolutely crazy but I refuse to be cold.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 11/08/2017 22:32

In the grand scheme of things, it hasn't been that bad at all, a few days of rain. And I say that as a farmer's wife, with half of harvest still in the field.

Titsywoo · 11/08/2017 22:33

It's not been great for getting out with the kids but August has been like this for a long time. I would like at least another week where it's warm enough to sit out in the garden after 6pm (or even before that some days!).

Delatron · 11/08/2017 22:33

A few days of rain?!

sundayfeeling · 11/08/2017 22:37

It is what it is.
