To ask for advice on how I can reduce noise in my house?

Firstly apologies as I know it's not unreasonable to ask. I'm worried that our neighbours hate us and we are a noisy family Sad. They have been banging on the wall at night - sometimes when there is no noise whatsoever which confuses me. Tonight we got back late and so the kids didn't get into bed till 11. My neighbour banged loudly on the wall and shouted 'shut up.' I can only think that maybe I was too loud when asking the kids to go to bed. I was having a phone convo with a friend at about 10.30. So maybe that disturbed them?
I am worried that we are too loud so I'm wondering how to reduce the noise. I am a bit upset to be honest and so was my daughter.

Dd says the banging wakes her up sometimes so I'm actually wondering if it is nothing to do with us at all. I've decided to ignore, keep a record and go on as normal. If they don't have the decency to speak to us then I don't think i should bother investigating too much.

I prefer the nicer note you drafted (OP).

I would be hacked off to received the 2nd one

I'm not sending anything at the moment. I'm just going to keep an eye on the noise they are making.

And make sure you don't make unnecessary noise after 10pm!

I don't think I did anyway. But I'm not even there this weekend

Just an update. I've popped home to do a bit of cleaning. Super quiet in my house. Just heard next door watching football. The man next door shouted 'it's a penalty you fucking wanker. You fucking blind twat.' I realise it is daytime but I don't think they can afford to be banging on my child's wall when I can hear shouting and swearing at the tops of their voices.
