Woman taking dds seat

I was on the bus earlier with my dd. There are 4 seats at the front of the bus, 2 together then 2 behind it. There was a man sitting in the first one (so an empty seat next to him) then a man sat behind him and my dd sitting next to him. I was standing opposite by the pram. A woman gets on then asks my dd for her seat. Aibu in thinking that you just don't do that! She past a completely empty seat to ask my dd for her one. I did pull her up on it and just got a mouthful back. my dd jumped up before I even got a chance to say anything, but I can't believe how entitled some people are!

It doesn't matter if your is or isn't NT, there were other seats available and she should've sat on one of them.

And tough shit if she didn't want to sit next to the other passengers, it's public transport, not your personal car.

So she walked past an empty seat directly in front of DD? that's just a bit weird.

My Dad is disabled and struggles to get into a seat on his left side so might pass a seat to get to one he could get into easier, or ask someone if they'd mind swapping but he'd be very sure to explain why and would ask every adult on the bus before asking a child to move.

10greenapples · 10/08/2017 23:31

Well the two men in the seat were just your average men not elderly and I doubt both were disabled one was in a work men uniform (like the florescent type jacket things) dd is 7. As I said I wouldn't mind her asking for the seat it's the fact she past an empty seat to ask for my dds one.

The one infront was indentical to the one behind it was directly behind not on the opposite side or anything.

The woman was a total bitch on a power trip. She knew she could get your daughter to move so she did.

BlackStars · 10/08/2017 23:38

That's a pretty weird thing to do, but well done your DD for being nice and getting up.

NO your daughter should not have got up - she s entitled to sit in a seat she has paid for!

Nope can't see any reason then, she's just gone out of her way to move a child rather than sit in an empty seat. Even if the bloke in front looked a bit dodgy, tough shit, either walk to another seat, stand or risk sitting next to slightly dodgy looking bloke.

Flopjustwantscoffee · 11/08/2017 00:02

I'd have left dd with the buggy and snuggled down on the woman's lap all comfy. Well, "you have a right to sit where you like"

I think I'm more amazed that so many people here seem to think a child should just jump up and give their seat to an adult. So what if they are travelling for free - so are the oaps with their bus passes - are you expecting them to move for a paying passenger too? I would stand up for someone who actually NEEDS a seat before asking my child too, but I'm fairly sure they'd also offer in the same situation anyway. A healthy adult though can whistle if they think they are entitled to a seat already occupied by one of my kids.

As for this woman - sounds like a total cow on a power trip.
