Aaagh neighbours have left loads of furniture and crap in street

I've posted before about my oh so wonderful upstairs neighbours who, among other things, removed all the carpets (breaching the lease) and ran a v noisy business from their flat for a while. I've no idea what is going on now but they've been banging around since about 4pm and there are loads of bags, a tallboy without drawers, a full dining set and various other crap on the pavement outside the building (one flat upstairs, one down). It's bin day tomorrow but there is no way they'll take all that away.

They are not speaking to us because they tried to sell their flat with the loft, half of which belongs to us as co-freeholders, and the sale fell through because the buyer wanted the loft to do a conversion which would've meant they'd had to have access through our house. We therefore declined to sell our half. So now they very pointedly cut us by turning their heads like seven year olds who want to make sure everyone knows they are Not Friends with us...

Anyway I digress. I can only just get out of the gate and it's taking up half the bloody pavement. I can only hope it does get taken away as if I report them for fly tipping they'll blame me - they probably would even if someone else reported them. I'm really only having a rant here, DH is off tomorrow so at least he'll be here if the binmen kick off Angry

A while ago my grandparents moved into sheltered accommodation and disposed of much of their furniture. They arranged for the council to take it away but the counci couldn't give a date or time do asvised to leave it on the pavement for ease of access. The vast majority seemingly disappeared before the council arrived.

10greenapples · 09/08/2017 22:17

My council tells people to leave rubbish out the night before for it to be collected in the morning (special collection service not regular bin collected) you have no idea if that's what they've arranged.

MinesaBottle · 09/08/2017 22:17

Hopefully that'll happen, it's perfectly good furniture. Shame it's pissing down but things dry out! Next door did leave their old Dyson outside last year and said it went within about 15 minutes Grin

Do your council offer a one-off bulk pick-up service? Ours do, tho at a cost, I think about £35. Could well be something like that?

Tigerlovingall · 09/08/2017 22:19

Oh, I see that others have posted while I was writing mine. All the best, op.

MinesaBottle · 09/08/2017 22:19

10greenapples I hope they have as it's blocking half the gateway and half the pavement. Based on past behaviour they're pretty selfish and thoughtless and it just kind of puts me on edge as I wonder what they'll do next.

If it's still there tomorrow afternoon, report them to the council for fly tipping.

MrTrebus · 09/08/2017 22:42

Report them definitely, with my council you can do it online anonymously and attach photos Grin

MinesaBottle · 09/08/2017 22:43

With that username MrTrebus I'd expect you to know Grin

I remember your knob heads. Sound like it's sold or rented now so they are getting ready to go.
Sounds like tomorrow could be entertaining

MinesaBottle · 09/08/2017 22:58

That's the odd thing - it's off the market but not sold (we'd know as we'd need to sign some of the forms as joint freeholders) or rented (because I'm nosy and checked and anyway there's not been a To Let sign up). DH now reckons they're about to do a flit! Which tbh I doubt as although stupid, I don't think they're that stupid. I reckon they're just having a clear out and using the street as a dump

OP posts:
Kickhiminthenuts · 10/08/2017 09:14

Maybe they are just having a spruce up before remarketing it after the school holidays.
I'm not sure I'd bother to have a clear out before doing a flit.
Although that is thexmore exciting of all possibilities!

MinesaBottle · 12/08/2017 13:33

Update, sorry for bumping! His brother came yesterday afternoon and took it all away. Luckily we didn't report them for flytipping as it probably would've been gone by the time the truck came. I am sort of relieved I underestimated them!

They have sold to one of those 'quick cash for your house' companies. As we have share of freehold I'm slightly concerned about who currently holds the other share, as it's now on Rightmove as a leasehold. With 'option to extend lease'...the lease is 67 years ATM, who is gonna buy somewhere with that short a lease?!

CockacidalManiac · 12/08/2017 13:37

Never be sorry for updating!

Clickncollect · 12/08/2017 13:42

Nice to read the thread and see an update!

Allthebestnamesareused · 12/08/2017 13:44

If they also own a share of freehold then it is quite easy to agree to extend lease - ssume yours is 67 years too

AryaOfWinterfell · 12/08/2017 13:48

Are they planning on selling the flat as a leasehold whilst retaining half of the freehold then?

MinesaBottle · 12/08/2017 14:05

I have absolutely no idea as they're not speaking to us...

Our lease is 999 years, I don't know why theirs is less. Maybe the previous owners didn't want to extend. They started the extension process a few months back but then lost their previous buyer and it all went quiet.
