To think "what a twat?" - transport and child related.

Just watched a guest a lot on GMB.

Very interesting debate with regards children giving up their seat on transport for adults.

However the 'etiquette' expert stated that
"Children don't need a seat as they don't seat still in them" Hmm

AIBU to think that's the most ridiculous argument I've ever heard 'for' children giving up a seat?

My eldest would move automatically. My middle one would want to, but would panic and possibly go into meltdown through indecision and anxiety. The youngest tends to be in a special needs pushchair.

If possible, we're all upstairs on the bus out of the way.

I wouldn't make either of my younger two stand, but would happily stand myself.

Maybe she wasn't actually pregnant!

Old peoples seats are paid for, their passes are paid for by the council.

A pass or a ticket means you're entitled to travel, not to sit, regardless of who has paid for it.

One of my kids has dyspraxia so we always try to get him a seat on the bus or tube.

When we are visiting London I have taught him to get on to the tube first and move quickly for a seat in between the slower moving adults. He's getting too big for me to hold up if he falls. He has an invisible disability. I worry he'd hurt someone else if he fell over. I've been hurt by his falling plenty of times. It's not fun.

On the local bus our journeys are not very far. There are usually seats but if not he can mostly manage. I made him his own 'I need a seat card' when he's travelled alone on longer bus journeys, so he isn't asked to get up.

On longer distance trains I have managed two children and me in a double seat. They took it in turns to sit on the gap. Another child on knee!

Yesterday someone gave up their double seats so my 2 year old could sit on his own seat?! It was only a 20 minute journey an he was cuddled up to me.

For a longer journey I have paid for him to have his own seat just to give us a bit more space as I'll be quite biggly pregnant. Not sure if people would still expect us to move though but I will if it's a busy train.
