To think that if you say your products are alcohol free, then they should be.

Not hugely earth shattering, but I went to a presentation about two big cosmetic brands and the demonstrator was adamant that they didn't contain alcohol (to which I'm allergic). But they bloody did!Shock

Do alcohol free products actually exist? This lady was astonished her two brands were laden with the stuff!

I'm a recent convert Fireguardmaiden - not cheap but really good makeup imo.

MargaretTwatyer · 09/08/2017 10:35

I think you mean halal brands BTW. Haram means forbidden and halal means permitted.

kali110 · 09/08/2017 10:46

Have you looked at any of the palmers products?

kali110 · 09/08/2017 10:48

Sorry just realised

mistlethrush · 09/08/2017 10:58

You might want to have a look at the Shea Moisture range - available in Boots - looks as though there might be some hair care products that might accord with your list there.

I only use Olivia soap (I get mine in a local Wholefood shop) as others give me terrible skin. That lists olive oil, water and mineral salts in its contents.

Fireguardmaiden, following a recommendation on here, I've started using Funky Soap Shop shampoo bars and body bars. They're real soap, not detergents and have no synthetic ingredients. I can't see any alcohol listed at a quick look. Most of them contain essential oils, so you might like to check first, in case you have problems with them - the ingredients are listed on the item page. However, the oatmilk and argan solid shampoo bar ingredients list is:

SODIUM COCOATE (COCONUT OIL), SODIUM OLIVATE (OLIVE OIL), SODIUM CASTORATE (CASTOR OIL), SODIUM PALMATE (CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL), AQUA, GLYCERINE, SODIUM RAPESEEDATE (RAPESEED OIL), SODIUM ARGANATE (ARGAN OIL) SODIUM ALMONDATE (ALMOND OIL), OAT MILK

I've found the shampoos to give a really good clean and keeps the greasies away for an extra day!

I know it doesn't help with the cosmetics you're looking for, but at least you might have some luck with these Smile

Fireguardmaiden · 09/08/2017 12:13

Thanks Owlish, that looks promising too!

And thanks all re haram/halal! Blush

Have you tried Green People? I don't think their Irritated Scalp Shampoo has any alcohol in though some of their others do.

QuietNinjaTardis · 09/08/2017 12:27

Not make up but skincare. Not sure what ingredients but it's all natural stuff so may be suitable? I'm using various bits of that at the mo. Smells lush.

Kariana · 09/08/2017 12:46

Apparently you can wash your hair with rye flour, which might solve the shampoo problem.

Fireguardmaiden · 09/08/2017 12:55

The wild sage stuff looks very nice but the essential oils they contain, have naturally occurring alcohol variants in.Sad

Alcohol is all natural, and vegan! But sadly I can't have it!

Was all excited about Green People as their blurb says their stuff doesn't contain alcohol and then in the ingredients it says benzyl alcoholAngry Bloody liars!

I must say, I still find the sodium hypochlorite to be highly unlikely! do swimming pools cause a massive all-over body reaction for you?

Fireguardmaiden · 09/08/2017 17:34

Yes it does. I've had to change all of our household detergents too.

Ok, that makes more sense. Make your own?

In times past most people made soap with spare animal fat and lye from fireplace ashes.

WombOfOnesOwn considering she's had extensive tests, then i think she should know..
