Would it be worth my while to purchase a tumble dryer

Sorry I'm posting for traffic so popped this in the AIBU board.
I'm wondering if it is worth getting a tumble dryer? Finding the amount of washing/ironing increasing more and more with two small children. Someone suggested they are great for getting wrinkles out of clothes so less to no ironing needed. Can I have your opinions and also what dryer you have as they vary in price and I've no experience of them. Thanks

Oh that's the other reason for it the clothes hanging everywhere drives me potty and on the day you hang them out to dry it's rains which means rewashing and redrying all over again. Hoping to order one tomorrow thanks everyone my mind is made up now

You won't regret it. I love my dryer. We had to buy one as a condition of our lease but it's turned out to be the best purchase ever!

I have just got one after being without for 4 years. The first time I have used a condenser one and am not keen on it, washing doesn't smell fresh and feels a bit damp even when it is dry.

Previous ones have been vented and have been much better, clean smelling and dry.

It does help to get the washing out of the way though, even if I do end up putting it on the radiators or heated airer to air or outside to get some fresh air. If I was going to buy another one it would be vented.

Just going through night training - 3 changes last night. I LOVE my tumble dryer. I'd love a gas one as supposedly they are much cheaper but no mains gas where I live. So settled for a condenser

Def worth investing in the highest energy rating you can afford as they use lots of electric

Soft fluffy towels from the drier v scratchy stiff ones from the line?
Drier all the way for me.

Yes, make sure it's just a tumble dryer, not a washer/dryer. 5foot5 is right they're bloody useless.

I currently have a washer/dryer, the drying cycle can be run for hours and all that happens is the washing comes out hot but just as wet as it started.

Has to be the most useless thing I've ever own, the drying part of it at least; it washes perfectly well though.

Do it, do it, do it!!!!
I got mine delivered today after debating for ages with DH (we now have 2 children so I feel like it was justified) and I love it - I've already had 3 loads of washing done that have been waiting around for the bloody rain to stop. I can already say I wouldn't be without it again! Towels feel so much nicer as well!
