Nothing happened but I did something stupid

Posting for traffic - please help me calm down.
I did something incredibly stupid. On holiday. came back to hotel for a few hours sleep. Did not put the extra security thing on whicj I did last night. and a man came in to fix something (change a poster, not something I requested or had been warned about.

I'm in bed just crying for leaving myself vulnerable to anything, don't feel able to tell DParemts room next door. Know I'm an idiot. Sad and angry at myself.
Need to pull myself together, learn the lesson, actually get out of bed and put security on now. Please help me by telling reassuring me I am ok.

fluff why not just feel lucky you wouldn't get worked up by something like this. The OP found it upsetting. For a reason, whatever it may be.

SingaSong12 · 08/08/2017 16:34

Sorry I can tell I over reacted, probably watch a bit too much violence on tv, and yes I'm old enough to know better. Also realise should t have posted in AIBU but thanks for the feedback.

I'm pretty calm now. Time to get on with the day.

Good for you OP.

OnionKnight · 08/08/2017 16:35

What? You are overreacting.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/08/2017 16:36

Staff are in and out of hotel rooms all the time, cleaners and maintenance. Seems odd to me not to expect that (to pp).

Glad you posted though OP if it's helped you to understand the situation a bit. Enjoy your holiday.

ParadiseCity · 08/08/2017 16:37

A cleaner walked into my hotel room the other day, it is normal and fine, does take you by surprise at the time though! Have a nice holiday.

ijustwannadance · 08/08/2017 16:38

Massive overreaction.

harrypotternerd · 08/08/2017 16:40

OP how old are you? I am guessing you are in a foreign country and you don't speak the language? That in itself can make you a bit more anxious and on edge. Don't feel too stupid OP.

You have learnt a valuable lesson and you are in a strange room in a strange country and I know if that were me I may well be on edge.

TheSnowFairy · 08/08/2017 16:40

Well, if my grandmother had two wheels she'd be a bike

Or a scooter.

Greengrass1 · 08/08/2017 16:40

OP do you take any medication?

I'm sorry, I am extra grumpy today, but...FFS Hmm

VodkaRevelation · 08/08/2017 16:56

Read the OPs last post guys.

Goingtobeawesome · 08/08/2017 17:11

I was in a hotel room and had put the chain on. A hotel employee let themselves in and scared the life out of me. I get why you're shaken as it's a what if moment but you are fine and you need to focus on that. We'd been told room 406 and been given room key 410 so reception were checking what hadn't happened. They allowed us to stay in the room.

loobyloo1234 · 08/08/2017 17:12
Hmm
MsGameandWatching · 08/08/2017 17:20

Where are you on holiday? Is it somewhere that's been attacked previously?

Auspiciouspanda · 08/08/2017 17:26

Staff should knock on the door first not just barge in with their own key card.

Yes their is a very low chance the worker was there to attack her but a man walking straight it to my hotel room would give me a scare too and I would be thinking of all the 'what ifs' too.

mumofthemonsters808 · 08/08/2017 17:27

Don't give this any more headspace, just get on with your holiday. We all do silly things, I often forget to lock my room, sometimes I've even forgotten to lock my front door and shudder at what could have happened.Get a cocktail down you and relax.

Atenco · 08/08/2017 17:33

I do think you should complain that the member of staff didn't knock first.

nanimobars · 08/08/2017 22:24

Wow, some of the posts I read on here really make me go... huh? Get a grip!

HotNatured · 08/08/2017 22:48

Que?

Stressy3215 · 08/08/2017 23:51

Really don't understand why people are being so blasé about this, yes it might seem small to you but has obviously upset OP and she wants reassurance.

Take it as a lesson learnt to always make sure your door is locked when you sleep and try to forget about it now, nothing bad has happened and you are ok. Enjoy the rest of your holiday x
