To think you shouldn't read an article about a show you haven't seen and then complain about spoilers?

Disclaimer: this is Game of Thrones related!

I've read a few articles today about the most recent GOT episode - I have seen it so I know what they are talking about when they reveal XX theory about XX character and so on and I'm cool with that.

However, there are SO many people commenting on said threads/articles that complain about spoilers even when the title of the bloody article is CLEARLY something about the most recent episode. Therefore, if you haven't seen the episode in question/don't want to see any spoilers = DON'T READ IT!!

I didn't get to see last weeks episode for a few days after it aired and I just scrolled past posts/didn't read articles that were obviously about the episode I hadn't seen.

Aibu to just find it really annoying when people complain about spoilers in situations such as this? Arrrg!

YANBU - this really annoys me too.

It also annoys me when people expect everyone else's discussion of a TV show to be scheduled according to their personal needs. For example, if someone is three episodes behind with a TV series, that's not really anyone else's problem, isn't it? Nobody else can be expected to know that they didn't watch something on the night it was actually broadcast. I remember reading an article on the Guardian website last year about a whole lot of TV dramas and someone complained about 'spoilers' for The Sopranos ... which finished a full decade ago.

People are ridiculous! shhh no spoilers- does my head in when the episode aired hours ago!

SharkiraSharkira · 08/08/2017 00:24

I mean, everyone's schedule's are different so it's fair enough that not everyone can see the episode at exactly the time when it's aired but if that is the case surely you KNOW that people are going to be talking about it and therefore you avoid said sites/articles until such time as you have seen it?

YANBU - I'm always spoiler-ing myself, but annoying as it is I know I read related forums/articles/comments at my own risk.

The only time I get annoyed is when there are spoilers in a title, or somewhere you wouldn't expect to find them for a new-ish piece of entertainment. GOT being a prime example - a couple of years ago I saw several articles and threads titled "is Xxx really dead?" within 24 hours of broadcast.

I've seen people complaining of spoilers when someone let slip that Elizabeth marries Darcy.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 08/08/2017 00:43

I've found people get quite uptight/excited/whatever about GoT in general.

Meh... It's just tits and dragons, isn't it

Yes, you can avoid spoilers and I do by scrolling past and not clicking on spoilers threads.

However there some poster yesterday who posted stuff about episode 5 BEFORE IT HAS EVEN AIRED on a thread about predictions following the airing of episode 4.

So annoyed - why would someone post spoilers on a thread like that (and no, there was no spoiler alert in the title at that point because I read it early on in the thread).

YANBU.

Ok so this episode got leaked beforehand and anyone who came across anything unexpectedly I'd feel sorry for but someone that purposely clicks on an article or thread when they haven't watched the episode is just foolish.

I stay away from all threads and articles and reviews online when I haven't seen the latest episode, although I was pissed off when I was on Youtube and in my "Recommended videos for you" list it had a video titled "Lady Olenna's Final Moments" so it was obvious she had died and I hadn't seen the episode yet.

Imagine my pain (I'm a very slow binge watcher -four episodes a week maximum for me!) when I decided to watch Twin Peaks for the first time and then they announced they were bringing it back after 25 years and it was everywhere online. I am still surprised I got through that without discovering who actually did kill Laura Palmer before I watched the episode that revealed it. Also I was in the middle of watching The Comeback when they announced it was having a second season after 9 years too. Any requests? Grin
