As there seem to be an influx of cfn's around recently I wanted to give a shout out to my rather lovely neighbour. I moved house at the end of April and the lady who lived here before me left me a new home card, inside it she said the thing she would miss most about living here was the wonderful neighbour next door. She was not wrong, he is a star. He brings my bins in each week for me while I'm at work, (and 3 other neighbours bins too), he offers to take stuff to the tip if he's going. When I moved in he popped round to introduce himself and offered free rein of his tools / empty wheelie bins etc :)

This week I have had a large hedge removed from the front garden and he came round with an envelope in, offering to pay towards the cost of it. I thanked him but politely declined as it was on my property, he said he was just so grateful for the thing to be gone as he's struggled getting off his drive due to the size of it for years.

Today I came home to find he is out there digging the bit where the hedge was so that it looks nice :) He reminds me of my (long since departed) Grandad, a genuine kind soul who wants to look out for, and help, anyone.

If the estate agent had added £££ 's on to the house price purely based on the neighbour it would have been worth every penny, he is an absolute angel already Grin

I live next door to a shop. The couple who run it (live upstairs) are utterly lovely. They take in parcels for me, including big heavy crates of wine, and often insist on carrying them into my house (I have a chronic pain condition and they know I struggle). They have repositioned the outside cctv to cover my car so there's footage in case anyone accidentally hits it. They are lovely to my kids and if they ever borrow anything like a Hoover the kids invariably get a free ice cream. They're always chatty and ask after how we are and remind me they are always there if we need anything. Can't fault them a bit.

On one side is a lovely family who just seem normal, 2 young ds who have very infectious giggles. They don't ever bother us.

On the other side is a brilliant retired lady who has the dogs in her house on the rare days we're both working the same hours. She lets me help myself to her apples, so she gets lots of pies and crumbles plus ice cream and custard We take her out for lunch and give her bottles of beer!

We've been blessed with good neighbours wherever we've lived but the wierdest guy was the one who used to do the ironing stark naked in the sitting room whilst watching tv and wearing just socks. The ironing board was at a strategic height to hide his bits. Always wondered how he didnt steam iron his Grin

After living in a flat with untidy students or noisy renters all around, I am so grateful now to have neighbours who will babysit, invite us over regularly for drinks, bbqs and be generally so kind.

stark naked . . . and wearing just socks
Contradiction, surely?

When I first moved in to my current home my ndn helped me to replace the suspension coil on my car - saving me £s. I never want to move Smile

We've got a lovely street! Very sadly my NDN died recently, I really hope we get someone as lovely as her to but the house as she was brilliant. We all let each other park on drives when necessary, do bins for each other and pulled together when there was an issue affecting the street. Love where I live, am so lucky

Our road is like yours Narnia
Mutual bin moving plus parking on each other's drives in a CFN (charming fabulous neighbour) manner!

After all of my previous neighbours being either drug taking chavvy dicks or pleasant enough but no more than the odd hello if we happened to both be in the front at the same time, my neighbours on both sides are really really lovely.

On one side is a retired couple who are very sweet, send Easter and Christmas cards and buy Easter eggs and little Christmas presents for ds. They also helped us to tidy up the wilderness that was our garden when we first moved. Said they were just glad someone was living here to keep it in check. They also gave us free use of their hose which is in the alley between our two houses because we don't have a tap.

The other side was home to a weed smoker who Smoked so much that it came into ds's room. They would regularly have parties till the wee hours and the bloke who lived there got shot at and stabbed. There were bullet holes in the windows and a couple of shells landed in our front garden. Scary stuff. They quickly left after that.

The new neighbour on that side is a retired nurse who is the sweetest lady. There's a bloke who visits there a lot too who has a very sweet natured little dog. They both foist sweets and pound coins into ds's hands whenever they see him and we regularly have a coffee and put the world to rights together. Yesterday I knocked to drop off some extra cakes I'd made, got invited in for coffee and had to make excuses to leave two hours later. She's lovely and I really really hope she stays.

Also lots of mutual bin moving, garden tool borrowing and watching the kids while they all play out in the street.
It's a poor street but everyone helps each other out. It's brilliant.
