My son uses silicone scar treatment on his face, it ends up all over cause he is 6 and doesn't understand not to hug you.
It also ends up in his hair, nothing I have tried gets this stuff out, am I destined to just end up with half my clothes ruined and him with hair that is crunchy

Am blatantly posting here for traffic but if nothing else I really want to be able to get his hair clean, can't stop using it either.

HELP

Awww, I'd embrace the ruined clothes and just hug my boy.

Could you wear a 1950s frilly pinny?

OohAahBird · 07/08/2017 11:13

Oh I do just hug him, never wanting to let him go is more of an issue, but it does mark clothes quite badly, have taken to changing into my pj top at bedtime.

Not a clue about silicone but could baby oil work in the hair? It seems to get other sticky stuff out.

OohAahBird · 07/08/2017 11:42

Haven't tried baby oil but can give it a try

My husband is a plumber so regularly come home with silicone on his clothes (from rubbing his hands on them after sealing a shower etc) and nothing seems to get it off. He has a bit on the back of a good t-shirt and I tried greaseproof paper and ironing it but it did nothing!

Genghi · 07/08/2017 11:52

Nail polish remover/turpentine works on silicone sealant on clothes. Maybe it's the same process with clothes/hair?

justilou · 07/08/2017 11:52

Eucalyptus oil can break it up but then it's hard to get out of fabric.

Nelly5678 · 07/08/2017 12:08

Try coconut oil

Oil is a pain to get out of clothes aswell!
Maybe you'll just have to accept some ruined clothes, go to a charity shop and buy some cheap spare clothes that can be ruined!
Or an excuse to buy some nice new clothes once yours are ruined ;)
