When in fact I want to run around the room with my chebs out cheering?

Dh is off all summer, I have the last week off. He has been invited to his brothers caravan for the best part of a week with the dcs (bil also has a ds same age as our eldest). He keeps asking "but will you be ok? We can come back early if you think you will miss the kids? Its just 5 weeks is a long time to be off so its a good opportunity".

Im doing the sympathetic side bob and lamenting how wonderful a time they will all have while I am at work when in fact I want to cheer and whoop and start planning my down time.

If I look too cheery about it dh will think Im a bad mum/wife surely and maybe realise that his week will be harder work than mine.

I'm so so so jealous. Enjoy and make the most of it. My 6 year old is awesome but my 11month old is bloody hard work and I am desperate for a break! Even a few hours would be bliss.

I had this for 3 Nights this week. It was just brilliant. When DH asked me if I'd missed them, I couldn't lie. I just said 'oh it was just a few days and I was busy at work, if it'd have been a week, of course' (wish it had been a week) Wink

Dh took our two oldest dd's to fils during the easter holiday. I HAD to stay at home as I had a uni assignment due and fil stays in the arse end of nowhere with no internet...

Was the best 5 days ever, assignment sent and house spotless within hours of them leaving. Me and the twins fair enjoyed the peace.

Best of all, the bed all to myself and no snoring Grin

No, no, not being U to do the little sad face now and then. Obviously it's in the interests of family harmony to not be openly too thrilled. Though technically there is no such concept - i.e. you cannot be 'too thrilled' in this context.Smile Have fun, NapQueen.

I'm about to get two nights away (mostly fun, bit of work), and people keep asking if I really want to get the train for 7 hours the day after, for when I need to come back.

Let me see: a reserved seat on an inter-city train, with plug sockets and wifi, table, chance for a fry-up at a station caff, a couple good books, all by myself...

I'm a little bit green reading this

Dd is off with inlaws for a week at the end of this month ......I've been subtly encouraging dh to work away that week (he's away a lot) but no his calander is open 😂
