to send the DCs lunches in plastic boxes?

DH certainly seems to think so! Older two DC off to sports day 'camp' tomorrow and Tuesday. They usually have school dinners so we don't have lunch boxes for them and I totally forgot they'd need packed lunches until yesterday. We don't have many shops near us so the only thing I could get at such short notice was a couple of those Sistema 'clip and lock' plastic boxes, which I think will be fine. Plus they have the added bonus of being useful for picnics/food storage!

DH thinks I am being totally U and the DCs will never forgive me for not buying them stupidly expensive 'proper' lunchboxes. Oh and that everyone will laugh at them for taking their lunches in plastic boxes. Who is BU here MN jury?

I do this too, as I threw out all the lunch boxes as they got manky and they are all on school dinners. Another option is just put the lunch directly into a little back pack, with the sandwich in a zip lock bag.

I have been known to send the dcs to school with these but I'm an ageing hippy who wants to save the world. Just me though, I don't care what others do www.boobalou.co.uk/product-category/eco-home/reusable-food-wrap/keep-leaf-reusable-baggie-reusable-food-wrap/ show them to dh and he'll think the plain plastic boxes are just fine Grin

Doesn't the food get crushed in the reusable baggies?

We have about 3 packs of these that get used in rotation as lunchboxes/for storing stuff in the fridge etc. Perfect size for a carton of drink, sandwich and a babybel! Ds has certainly never said anybody cares that his lunch is in a plastic box.

We've got loads of those too Jobless but they're mostly being used by DD as hairband storage or DS1 for tiny pieces of Lego! Should have just emptied a couple out and used those instead, doh!
