To think hairdressers should try not to leave clients with stained faces??

This happens everytime I go to hairdressers. They paste the hair dye onto my hair but then seem to paint around my hairline meaning I have dye all over my forehead and down the sides of my face (and ears!). They seem completely unconcerned by it, see it there and just leave it! Occasionally they'll make a half arsed attempt to run some of it off but normally they don't bother. Then by time it comes to me having it rinsed off, the dye has well and truely stained my skin meaning I end up leaving the hairdressers looking like a twat. God knows how I'd look if I happened to be going out after getting my hair done!

Do they all do this? AIBU to think that removing dye off the face/forehead should be a part of the appointment?

Don't they put a cotton wool bit all around the hair line? But yes, I agree.

Mind did this until I asked them to remove it. They now use a special cleanser to clean round my hairline before it stains.

It used to spoil the first few days after a salon visit for me!

No no cotton wool, nothing. They literally make no attempt at all to prevent it! I can't understand how they think it's ok!

Mine uses a special cream around the hairline so it doesn't bleed onto the skin.

Time for a new hairdresser

SpottedGingham · 05/08/2017 20:46

Smear of Vaseline should help?

JessicaPeach · 05/08/2017 20:49

Last time I went to the hairdresser she got the dye all over my face, it was in my ears and all sorts! Its completely put me off and im looking for a new hairdresser now

ofudginghell · 05/08/2017 20:50

No we don't all do it.
I personally think it looks like sloppy workmanship when it happens.

I always put a little conditioner around hairline and once I've applied colour before putting the caps on I wipe off the conditioner where colours gone and apply fresh.
My clients don't leave my salon with stained skin.
I'd be pissed off if I did.

Mine did this - drove me crazy especially if I was going straight out afterwards. I started asking them to make sure it was all removed when they did my hair for a wedding and now I just ask each and every time.

YANBU. My former hairdresser was awful for this. It was as if she thought she had to prove her hairdressing prowess by getting dye all over my face, neck and/or tops.Confused

LordEmsworth · 05/08/2017 21:13

Err, what?! So not normal. Or at least, has never happened to me but it seems i am in the minority so clearly it is normal and I am exceptionally lucky in having a hairdresser who washes it off...

user1471443504 · 05/08/2017 21:18

Mine automatically cleans my skin after the dye has been applied. Does back of my neck and my ears too. I've never had to ask. I thought this was a standard thing but obviously not. Baby wipes are great at removing the stains, I still always do a quick wipe when I get home.

FrogsLegs31 · 05/08/2017 21:22

Mine got red all over my face yesterday, she just cleaned it off at the end using a "stain remover" on some cotton wool. Left clean as a whistle...

Mine does this and it's a pain. The conditioner around the hair line helps but not the other splashes on cheeks and ears! I hate it and mention it everytime but it still happens. They did start giving me these stain remover sachet things to remove it myself but that just leaves my skin red and sore. I would change hairdressers but she is an amazing colourist (apart from the face staining!). It's especially annoying if I have a special occasion or holiday as I have to get my colour done three days before to allow the staining to go.
