Well, it's finally arrived. The moment I've not been waiting for.

I know 40's the new 30 and all that, but I can't really believe I'm 40. It sounds so grown up!

has anyone else feel weird about hitting the big 4 0?

I still feel about 20 in my head.

I've got a dodgy knee and a clicky ankle, which seem to have come on quite recently.

Is this a sign of things to come Grin

Happy birthday! I'm 44 and I can honestly say that I am enjoying my 40s. The kids are becoming more independent and needing me less, my career is satisfying and on its way back again after a bumpy period with small people, my marriage is good. Enjoy the new decade.

@Mum2OneTeen

Agggghhhh - hot flushes 😳😳😳

Happy birthday! And don't worry, it's totally arbitrary. If the Earth was further from the Sun or orbited a bit slower our years would be longer. If you lived on Jupiter you'd still be 3 years old.

Just don't move to Mercury. You'd be about to celebrate your 166 birthday (if you'd managed to keep cool enough to survive!) Smile

Yes ! Welcome to the age of aches and pains

But still - better dead

Nothing like losing a friend young Sad to make you not give a shit about getting older

Happy birthday! I'm 41 soon & still not sure I like being this age.

But then I'm not where I thought I'd be in life - I thought I be married with kids by now but no sadly...

On the plus side I've lost a lot of weight & therefore feel more confident & wear more fashionable clothes, people always think I'm a lot younger, I have more friends now too.

Also I think of those friends who didn't get the chance to get to 40! So I shouldn't complain too much.

Hey happy birthday! I've just had the big 40 too and it did feel a bit weird but I just planned a few nice things and actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I think it's that feeling of being a proper grown up and that you should have your act together by now even though that's not always the case! Also my husband and siblings are all a bit younger so I was getting a bit of a ribbing. Hope you had a lovely time and treat yourself to something nice xxx

Happy birthday! I'm right behind you; my birthday's in a couple of months. Feel fine about it actually, apart from the occasional fleeting moment of aargh. Also I used to say I feel 20 in my head too, but recently I spent the evening with some fantastically bright-eyed enthusiastic 20 year olds at a social occasion and I realised that I'm not 20 in my head at all. I'm the same age as I am on the outside, it's just that I don't feel how I used to imagine grown-ups felt.
