To think he is pulling a fast one

Friend kindly grabbed me some veg from shops today - some toms, onions and mushroooms. After I asked how much it was and they said they couldn't remember but "about 4 or 5 pounds". Money's not tight and it doesn't matter... should I just pay? Friend can be a little funny with money sometimes too so there is history here...

Maybe he thinks you should give him a tip!

MysisteriscalledTwem · 05/08/2017 01:19

I feel mean as thanked him then said oh so 3-4 quid then and reminded him what he got me Blush feel like I've accused him of something when that wasn't the intention. What should I actually pay?!

yorkshireyummymummy · 05/08/2017 01:26

I would pay what he wants and never ask him to get you anything again. The whole rounding up in his favour/ rounding down in his favour is odd. He obviously has a strange relationship with money so just keep money out of your friendship.

thepumpk1neater · 05/08/2017 01:32

It may well be four. I'd give him £4.00 and ask him to let you know if you owe him any more. If he's bought standard, basic tomatoes, onions and mushrooms then it's possibly around £3.00 or just under

Happyeverafter73 · 05/08/2017 01:36

I think it's weird that he didn't give you the exact amount tbh.

InvisibleCities · 05/08/2017 01:47

Ask for a receipt in future.
