This is not a stealth boast. She has been to plenty of other places like Byron, GBK, pizza express, Nando's, Wagamama etc and I'm under no illusion that they're any better and actually some are probably worse for her. She's happened never to go to a party where the food bit has been at McDonald's. DH likes it and if he's grabbing food after work he might get a burger on the way home. I'm not fussed on it. DD (and DS but he's only 4) have never really been bothered about it, like if we stop at services they've never asked and like going into M&S instead and picking up picnic type stuff on car journeys. So the 'need' to take her has never arisen. But a few of my friends are a bit Hmm that she's never gone. AIBU to think it's not a huge deal?!

best hangover food ever.

It really IS the best hangover food!

Mine only went once years ago when we had been out for the day with another family. My DC were in the other DM's car and she stopped at McDonald's as her DC wanted to. She also thought it weird that they hadn't been.

Neither of them liked their food - we have big chips and solid bread with burgers at home.

Like OP said, it's not where we'd think to eat so DC don't either. They have eaten at lots of other places with food that DH and I like.

They're now teens and still don't go. When they go into town with friends they tend to go to Costa or Nero. Or into Chinatown for a Chinese. Never McD or KFC.

Dd8 has been a few times and now she knows she doesn't like it.

I haven't ever said anything especially anti it.

Each to our own, but I can't see the point of drinking bland overpriced coffee in Costa or Cafe Nero. It's like ground acorns. I'd also not keen on eating in London's Chinatown. Most places are awful but maybe you live in another part of the country where the food and servce is wonderful.

HighAlert · 04/08/2017 23:45

Nero and Costa coffee is no better than McDonalds coffee. I'm a Barista so know about coffee. . I prefer McDonalds coffee.

After the first few pages I was beginning to feel like the only parent who DOES allow their DC to go to McDonalds. They don't 'love' it, neither do I, but we are very busy with rehearsals and clubs etc and occasionally, it's just quicker to pick something up 'on the go'. It's cheap, but not as dreadful quality as some people would have you believe, and they have something everyone will eat. I'm sure I can hear the tutting from here...!

Dixiestamp · 05/08/2017 02:20

Incidentally, there are some very nice coffee shop/cafe type McDonalds in France. They sell a different range and do amazing coffee, pastries etc.

FlowerFairyLights · 05/08/2017 02:24

French mcds do beer we discovered!

OlennasWimple · 05/08/2017 02:40

I like the local differences in the McDonalds around the world

And that they are reliably clean

I love these threads Grin
Mine have never eaten there as I'm still exclusively breastfeeding them all until they're 10.

But really, they go probably once every couple of weeks. Even more shockingly - if we're out a lot during these summer hols, we may go once a week! Or twice!

One DC has food sensory issues and has only recently started tolerating a plain burger from McDonald's- the utter joy of being able to grab a meal in a rush for everyone in the same place.

It's always clean, relatively predictable timings, balloon ridden. (Cross about the iPads though)

For all the spouters about the 'crap' the burgers are 100% beef, the nuggets 100% chicken breast. They serve milk, water, fruit. At least educate yourselves before you start the judgeathon.

Only 10, FeralBeryl? Hmm

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 05/08/2017 21:21

My 5 yr old loves mc ds. Infact its one of the only meals she eats all of. Or fish fingers. Despite several attempts and a healthy weaning. Wait till she is older....she will love mcds. Im hoping mines will despise it!
