Mail for random (non existent) person?

Not really an AIBU more of a WWYD. Last year someone took out a CC in my name and spent lots of money on it- first thing I knew was getting a bill. Sorted it out- reported to relevant people and put a check thing on my credit history so that no one could apply for a card or anything without it being checked my calling me. Now, there is mail being delivered to my address with a random name on it- I know it's not the previous owners (we've been here for ages now anyway) or anyone else in the block. Lots of bill looking type letters. I think someone has maybe made up a name and using my address but I'm not sure what to do about it? Any ideas? Thanks

I would cross the name through and say not known at address and send back to sender

Phone the companies sending the letters. And check your credit rating.

Contact the credit card company to alert them, they will have a fraud team who will notify the police. They will investigate by asking you a few basic questions to ascertain you didn't apply for the CC.

Do you have your own letterbox or a communal one? When we got targeted theives would steal our post and apply for credit in our names...we have since got more secure postboxes from the Housing Association. Also, in future, destroy anything with your name and address on it before putting in the bin. Check your online security too. Let YOUR bank and credit lenders know what is happening.

You have to act quickly because this is your credit rating which affects things like getting credit for yourself.
