My breasts are causing me back and shoulder pain

Happyeverafter73 · 30/07/2017 22:56

Bra straps dig into my shoulders causing me neck back and shoulder ache.

Does anyone else have this and is there a solution?

I've tried wider straps, no bra (that was mistake - breasts clapping together like castanets), sports bras.

Please can you help me?!

OK, I have to say at 25 I did all of this and just accepted that I was big boobed and sore and it wasn't comfortable.
At 27 I had breast reduction surgery (36ff/g to small d). It was as life changing. I don't say that easily. I'm now, post bf a 3rd hold a 36f but my god what would I have been without it. My little sister is getting married and is m shape, I want the courage to tell her my god do it
It's life changing.

*my shape not m! She's probably a 36g

Happyeverafter73 · 31/07/2017 00:09

I'm really short and fat. So dd breasts are quite massive on me, I'm all chest waist up.

Thanks for the suggestions I'm going to look into bravissimo as suggested by several posters.

@Rache11 you're definitely in the wrong bras then! I'm a 32H and all the support comes from the band - straps are tight enough not to slip down but I could slide them over my shoulder easily without much change in my shape. And nobody would ever accuse mine of being pert 😄

@Happyeverafter73 get thee to Bravissimo 😊 Try on lots, get their advice and you'll probably find you go down a few back sizes and up a few cup sizes. You shouldn't be needing physios and chiropractors for neck issues with DD boobs.

Ollivander84 · 31/07/2017 00:27

Definitely get remeasured. I'm a small back and massive cup and my straps don't dig at all. Wearing a 34K but I'm more like a 32KK after weight loss

Rache11 · 31/07/2017 00:27

lol I'm really not, I've tried that method - the band scrunches up and 'clicks' when I bend over I literally can't breathe & the red sores are horrendous after a day of wearing it Grin

WeAllHaveWings · 31/07/2017 06:06

The first things I noticed when I eventually (aged 46!) found the correct bra size is the front part between my boobs actually sat flush to my body, there was no boob folds at my armpit (actually my underarm boob flesh could come forward and sit in the cup giving a much better shape), and the straps no longer dug in.

If you don't have that you are in the wrong size/style.

M&S are the pits for breast sizing.

I originally had 38DD breasts, reduced down to a C cup - once healed, made the mountainous mistake of going to M&S and told I was a 38E!

stumblymonkeyagain · 31/07/2017 06:49

I agree that your straps shouldn't be digging in. You shouldn't be getting that much support from the actual straps, most of it should be coming from the main body of the bra.

I'm a 38G and sliding the straps off my shoulders makes very little difference to the overall appearance (...and I'm wearing a non-wired bra!).

Straps being too tight or too loose are a sign that either your bra is the wrong size or its past it's best and is no longer supporting you properly around and under the breast.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 31/07/2017 08:46

HicDraconis is there a particular style of bra you wear? I measure 31 but wear a 30 band with an H cup, couldn't fit any better but definitely need the straps to give the shape I want. My boobs are quite low-set and close together and I like them as high and round as possible to avoid the matronly look (and I'm 54).

Sashkin · 31/07/2017 09:41

Rache11 no, 30H and breastfeeding. Not pert at all post-kids, they brush my navel with no bra on.

If your breasts drop when you slip a shoulder strap off, your bra isn't supportive enough. The band should hold everything up. Whether you need a smaller band or deeper band or what, I don't know because I'm not a bra measurer and haven't met you. But your bra definitely doesn't fit right.
