What wedding present to buy?

Hi everyone,

Will be going to a close relative's wedding next weekend (not DSis, but along those lines).

I've bought a card for her and her DP, but haven't yet bought them a present.

Just for context, they're both in their 30s and have already bought a home together. Some other relatives are planning on giving them money, but I would really like to give them a gift of some sort.

Any recommendations please? :)

Our favourite wedding gifts were experiences from DBIL. They were a cheese and wine tasting evening and en escape game that we really enjoyed. We done these as nice dates before heading off on honeymoon.

You could do something like that or pay for a lovely meal at a restaurant if they enjoy eating out?

We had a few gift vouchers for lovely local restaurants and they were fab as we enjoyed a few good nights out on those!

go halves with someone and get a voucher for a weekend away that they can use for their year anniversary?

Find out where they are going on honeymoon and book something local for them or get a voucher?

We've just had this dilemma! A close colleague of DH's, already have children and a home together. She doesn't drink, and a bit of a fussy eater, but likes baking so got them a lovely glass cake stand that can be used a punch/fruit bowl when turned over. Thought it was useful and at least it isn't a silver photo frame! (He'd eat and drink anything, and don't think he'll be too fussed over gifts anyway, so targeted it towards her more.)

In a similar situation I bought my BIL and his wife flowers for a year on the day of the month that they got married. They claimed to have really loved and look forward to receiving the flowers each month so I will claim it as a success!

Bloody hell SmugMarried, that mirror is nearly £1200!! Do people really buy wedding presents of that value?

catsarenice · 01/08/2017 05:51

I was just about to come on and say please don't buy that mirror it's bloody awful!! But £1200?!!! Think that one is very much down to personal taste!! (And a very generous pocket!)
