Called police about neighbours

I live in a small block of flats which is generally full of young families.
A new neighbour moved in a few weeks ago and since then has been smoking weed on his balcony every evening and each weekend morning Sad
I know he has one young child and a wife/girlfriend who live there but the woman doesn't seem to smoke at all that I've seen
I have young DDs and I'm having to keep the balcony door and the windows shut so they can't smell it and so our home doesn't stink
I got home from work last night and it absolutely reeked of weed Angry
I rang 101 and reported them as I was raging
My friend has said she thinks I was being ridiculous and over reacted Hmm
What's the consensus please

OP, I totally get that when it comes into your home it's not at all nice. I'd probably have spoken to them about it myself as they probably just don't realise. Unfortunately the police probably will give the impression that they're all about it, but from my own experience (got 2 friends on the force), they really don't care about people smoking weed on their own premises.

I'd get that way about cigarette smoke coming into my house, or people having bonfires without warning me. Would speak to them first, though. And try to find some way for them to block it from the balcony. Re PP who objects to wood burners - I do to though friend has one and it's super clean burning (eg burns the wood, then burns the wood smoke, then filters at top). Too many of the pretty ones you can get from restoration places aren't like that and people don't line their chimneys. Knock on their doors and smile sweetly.

No smell of weed so far tonight
And for the poster who said am I worried my children will get high Hmm no I don't want them to think that it's a normal smell or normal behaviour

What's a "normal" smell OP? Confused

Car exhaust fumes perhaps?
