This pisses me off as well when I'm on nights. How am i expected to treat my patients safely with no sleep because everyone makes too much noise and keeps me awake Angry
Brew and Cake for you.

RoomOfRequirement · 28/07/2017 14:50

Coleslaw Yep, it's our registration if we make an error because of selfish entitled people ensuring we get 0 sleep.

Cake for you also. Thanks for understanding.

I have nothing more to say than I am so grateful that the medical staff who helped my Dad when he had a heart attack at 5am were nothing less than amazing.

I am sorry that you find it hard to get the sleep that you deserve just because of selfish twats.

If you could forward me the addresses of the selfish twats mentioned in the OP, I will go and have a chat with them about their disgusting behaviour.

ParadiseCity · 28/07/2017 15:04

I have several years experience keeping small DC quiet when dh was a police officer on night shifts.

I would be happy to join the Anti Twat Brigade to put my hiss and glare skills to use for you. Flowers

I am on nights again tonight (not a doctor but work in the medical profession) and I feel your pain. I have managed 3 hours sleep today.

Cake and Gin coming your way.

Oldraver · 28/07/2017 15:09

Some people are just noisy...We had a delivery today and I could hear the driver booming away from upstairs, (some confusion as he got the wrong house) came down and had to ask him to tone it down as there is a nightworker in the house

kingfishergreen · 28/07/2017 15:11

As per pp I'm eternally grateful for the medical team (maybe 9 people) who were bright, breezy and on top of their game at 4:30am in order to perform the cat1 EMCS that saves mine and DD's life.

To all the noisy folk, let those guys sleep!!!

Thanks all Flowers

I'm not unreasonable in expecting complete silence, NDN have a newborn and a 3yo. Regular family noise/crying to be expected. They wake me occasionally but it's quick and I turn over back to sleep.

Today was a group of teens walking down my street screaming making a fucking racket for a half hour. Then settled again and woken to someone's music blaring which has been going on for an hour now but can't actually see where from to go kick their fucking arse

Have you tried white noise? It's brilliant. Oh, and some sympathy from me as well.

ZivaDiva · 28/07/2017 15:21

I'm on nights tonight, I manage an average of 4 hours sleep during the day even with earplugs. My drive home, and most of my shift driving on blue lights, is sponsered by copious quantities of caffeine. We have neighbours who we've nicknamed 'the noisys' who seem to manage 24 hour noise with frequent weekend parties that go from midday to midnight with karaoke included.Sad
I don't expect silence but there are limits.

Slimthistime · 28/07/2017 15:30

ah I feel for you OP

noise laws are complete shit aren't they - and I don't understand how they don't account for night workers.

HipsterHunter · 28/07/2017 15:32

I think if I was a shift worker I would have to make myself a little totally sound proofed and pitch black sleeping pod!

Hissy · 28/07/2017 15:35

Huge sympathy and massive respect to you all who work nights

CatLoverForever · 28/07/2017 15:39

Yanbu sympathies from another shift worker Brew

Ollivander84 · 28/07/2017 15:41

Oh and people that go "well you won't be asleep all day, how about 2pm?"
"I'll wake YOU UP AT 2AM and see how you like it" Grin

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/07/2017 15:55

White noise, earplugs and an eye mask. Plus a black out blind.

Nights are shit. I did them for 13 long fucking years permanently and now, even one week of nights every 6 weeks feels too much.

I used to even get dh asking if I'd be able available if workmen came round in the afternoon etc. And my dc who are now teenagers coming home from school making lots of noise when I've told them I'll be sleeping and even stuck a note on the front door reminding them!

OuchBollocks · 28/07/2017 16:01

DH is a police officer on shifts. Our NDNs have a got a fucking ROOSTER. Cock-a-doodle-fucking-do from 5am until sunset Angry

Ineverpromisedyouarosegarden · 28/07/2017 16:07

We were very grateful to the medical staff who treated my Dads sepsis and explained coma scales to me at three o'clock in the morning. (I had no idea there were different depths of being unconscious.)

Anyway Bose noise cancelling headphones are amazing. Dd occasionally sleeps in hers.
