A stopping in middle of road one - who wbu?

Apologies for crap drawing and worse writing.

Nasty Man stopped in middle of road, double-parked, because he's waiting for lorry across the road move so he can have the lorry space. Another car, arrowed, female driver, is signalling to pull out.

I am behind NM, with a White van man behind.

Traffic builds up, cars in opposite direction squeezing through.

Lots of tooting (including from me). I suspect WVM is tooting at me rather than NM as WVM eventually squeezes past us both (but he's higher up with better visibility of road ahead).

NM gets out of car and shouts at me to pull around him (not much space, plus if he pulled on, there was a space to his left, meaning arrowed driver could pull out).

I stayed put until eventually he pulled into the space.

Who wbu? I could have just about pulled around him, but visibility was poor and I would have been forced into incoming traffic.

Also, woman with arrow would still have been stuck - and it was causing queues in both directions.

I'm not sure but I think the safe approach is better. The traffic was held up but everyone went on their way safely in the end.
I'd say he WBU but that's because I would not be so presumptuous as to hold up traffic for a long time waiting for a space (male privilege?!) and, like you, I'd prefer to be delayed than possibly scrape someone's car by misjudging the space available to manoeuvre

Male privilege was exactly what I thought, and I deliberately defended the sisterhood by waiting so that arrowed woman could go on her way. He was very angry - verging on unhinged actually.

Grin defended the sisterhood! I like it!

So if you had squeezed round and scratched his car he'd have gone mad at you. I find people are often angry when they know they're in the wrong and are trying to deflect

Fwiw I think you did the right thing!

Thank you! No matter what a twunt he was, I was still doubting myself.

Why male privilege and not just selfish driver? Or is it the case that every instance of a male doing something selfish is privileged?
