AIBU?

To have forgotten the tooth fairy's handwriting?!

Just that really, DD is 7 and has lost a tooth today, I think this will be the last one where she still expects a letter from the tooth fairy. I have no idea how she writes usually as we're staying at my parents tonight and all the letters from here are in DD's drawer at home!
What do I do?

I doubt your DD will notice. Perhaps type it if you can so she doesn't realise?

I usually print certificates off the internet. Saves the handwriting conundrum.

Use a different pen. Fairies write differently in different colours.
Or explain that different areas are covered by different fairies. Lots of children lose teeth every night they need a team you know.

Dp once wrote the letter from the Easter Rabhit in Father Christmas's handwriting. That took some very quick thinking.

The DC were 14 and 19 at the time.Grin

There are different fairies for different areas. The one covering our area is notoriously unreliable and there's many a letter of apology received from our village fairy.

Tiniest font possible on laptop.

When did tooth fairies learn to write?

Dd1 lost a molar 2 weeks ago (she's only 8) I completely forgot and she came down the next morning really upset because she didn't get a note and £1, I hastily wrote a note and grabbed a tenner then sneakily put it under the mattress sheet and told her to recheck, she nearly screamed when she found it (I felt awful about forgetting so gave her more and told her because it's her first molar the tooth fairy was extra generous!) The tooth fairy in our house never wrote notes. I suppose the job spec has been changed under Tories.

To answer your question, the tooth fairy surely has the same handwriting as you. There's more than one tooth fairy so some variation in writing styles is to be expected.

A tenner? Shock What if she tells her friends about this first molar rule?

Report

Upyourdaisy · 27/07/2017 20:06

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties doesn't make any difference to me, she can only lose 1 'first' molar (I did tell her not to mention it to her younger siblings though 😁)

She has siblings? Oh dear, this could get expensive for you daisy Grin

Only 4 ILostItInTheEarlyNineties
She'll keep quiet though 😉

DD writes a note for the tooth fairy and most definitely expects one back-I would not want to be around should she ever forget!

The tooth fairy writes notes? I never got one, just 20p on the windowsill in the morning.

Use translator and write the letter in another language, with a message saying that she's standing in for the English fairy tonight.

Mine is 9 and still expects a bloody letter.
Apparently i'd given ds's a name and forgotten it - an hour of frantic searching I found a previous letter - from Troy the Tooth Fairy TROY ffs was I on drugs? I have no memory of naming the fairy Troy!!

Ps different postcode, different fairy sounds like a plan.

Curious now. Is everyone stashing the teeth?? I do... I've got nearly enough to fill my mouth should I ever need them

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 27/07/2017 20:16

Troy the fairy? Grin

I once wrote a note from Father Christmas saying thanks for the mince pie. A tradition I wish I never started as the dc were really disappointed they didn't get a note the following year. Blush
