To want a miracle contraception?

Been happily on logynon/triregol for years, but I've finally admitted my aura migraines to the nurse and she's put me on cerazelle instead. The fact that both microgynon and micronor (after dc) made me depressed cut no ice and she said I could try the sexual health clinic to see if they had any better ideas.

I have now googled cerazelle and am shitting myself. I never, ever want to feel like I did after having dc2, but the internet seems to imply that it's inevitable. Aibu to think that after 50 odd years this should not be something we have to gamble just not to get pregnant? And yes, dh will definitely be getting the snip.

Oooo I love charting! I tried it out after getting pregnant with DD1 on the pill, while my periods were still all over the place during BFing and it's wonderful. So freeing!

I never had a regular cycle post DD1 for some reason but have had no issues at all in knowing when I am about to ovulate. It also came in handy when trying for DD2 (though I know you don't plan to get pregnant again OP).

I used Kindara. I honestly can't praise this contraceptive method enough!

Another vote for Mirena. Absolutely lifechangingly amazing

dementedpixie · 27/07/2017 19:44

I was happy enough with my mirena but not so much with the trauma of trying to get it removed. It expired in May and it's still not out. Have been to family planning clinic but no strings visible to remove it. Went to gynae who had a go at removing it but no luck. Going for an ultrasound next Wednesday and then at some point (when my referral goes through) I will be going under general anaesthetic to finally get it out. Not looking forward to that!

dementedpixie · 27/07/2017 19:45

sorry it expired in March not May

MotherofPearl · 27/07/2017 19:47

Pixie, same problem as me. It seems like a real problem for Mirena.

I used an ovulation app and now have a bouncing 7 month old!
I tried the injection for 6 months and bled lightly every single day.
I asked for patches but couldn't as I'm breastfeeding still, so back on the mini pill. (Which at some point I will probably forget to take).
I may go for sterilisation in a few years as don't fancy the coil, partner wouldn't say no to another child but I'm done.

Thanks people. Going to start it tomorrow and be alert. Dh, following possibly hysterical texts post nurse visit this afternoon has already phoned the doc for a snip apt. To be fair, he's nearly 50 and we've discussed it. And itself ok, cos lots of blokes in work have had it done.Confused

And i do get the charting thibg- cycle was up the creek after dc1, but it did tell me when I'd ovulated so we could make dc2. Sonographer was well impressed:"how far along do you think you are?" "10 weeks and 3 days". "Correct!"

Sadly you really can't go on advice from anybody here because everybody reacts differently to different contraceptives, and their reaction can totally change after having a baby.

I've had a nightmare time trying to get the right one for me. And my experiences have differed from what I read onine, and pre/post pregnancy. I had the copper coil twice. 1st time it gave me recurrent thrush every single month until I had it removed. A few mo the on I gave it another chance and that one turned sideways in my uterus and almost perforated it.

I went on cerazette and that was fine, I had no periods at all. Stopped taking it to have DS. I asked for it again when my periods came back but the Dr said they prescribe cerelle now, which is (apparently) identical, just a different brand name. Like buying tesco paracetamol vs asda paracetamol. I took cerelle for about 4 months and I was having periods very irregularly, sometimes 3x a month. Every time I had one I had the MOST HORRIFIC PMT. I can't even begin to describe. I felt suicidal at times and like everything was hopeless. Then next day I'm back to normal just like that. So I stopped taking that.

I have now just started microgynon as apparatus that's also used to treat PMT so will see how that goes.

My advice OP would be just try and see how you get on with other methods - you can't predict how your body will react.

Not condoms then?

Thegiantofillinois · 28/07/2017 14:06

Not if I can help it. I don't like the feel.
