To ask landlord

To repaint the communal areas.

We've been here 4 years and it wasn't freshly done when we moved in and hasn't been done since. The landlord chose white and a low quality paint which runs if you wipe it leaving bare wall.

Obviously after 4 years the stairs bathroom kitchen and hallway have gotten dirty. Not through neglect just from every day living. The once white gloss around the doors is now also yellow

So wibu to ask for it to be redecorated. I've done my own room

OurMiracle1106 · 27/07/2017 11:48

unfortunately landlord is very tight with money but they make a significant amount on the property each month

And?

Why would that stop you asking?

ThymeLordIsSpartacus · 27/07/2017 11:56

Of course you should ask. Is there not a service charge which covers the communal areas?

namobamo1 · 27/07/2017 11:58

If you rent the service charge is included in your rent (not on top of like when you pay mortgage)

Absolutely ask

OurMiracle1106 · 27/07/2017 12:04

When we've asked before we've been ignored completely. There's a few things that need addressing- but it's chosen to be ignored.

At worst, asking means stuff is the same, at best, things get fixed.

Again, why wouldnt you?

Perhaps be more forceful and tell them stuff needs fixing so that its not a question they can say no to

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 27/07/2017 12:12

Is there an agent or does the ll deal direct? Keep asking, don't give up!

Communal areas? Kitchen/bathroom?

OurMiracle1106 · 27/07/2017 21:13

I live in shared accommodation but as there's only 4 of us it doesn't require a hmo licence.
