To think I should be able to pay with my card??

Trying to buy some maternity stuff at next and my only option to pay for it is to order on account. I only opened the account to get 0% to buy some curtains months ago so I assume that offer is gone. Why can't they have the option to pay on account or on debit/credit card?? Or am I missing something?

Ring them. They can close your account and open a cash account.

Vendors privilege ?

Of course you have the privilege to shop elsewhere ...

(Generally banks charge a lot for processing, so if you can eliminate bank fees ...)

I would go somewhere else but our town has limited options and i like the free click and collect service

I'm sure you can pay by credit card. Do you already have an account with them? Just pay it off by card after buying on the account. If you pay in full by the due date you won't get charged interest

Ninabean17 · 27/07/2017 09:15

I have a next account but it'll only let you pay by debit/credit card if your limit is reached

mohuzivajehi · 27/07/2017 09:20

Just open a new account without the 0% special offer bribe and pay with your own card right from the start. Of course they want to you to shop with their 39.9% APR account, and they have every right not to offer you options that they don't want you to take now they have their claws in you. They will make back the original 10% discount they gave you within 6 months. Close the account, open a new one with a different email address and never open a new store account card again the initial opening offers are never worth the eventual costs.

It's 16p that's charged. Wish places would charge what it actually costs rather than £2.50 like in lots of situations. Sorry slight detail there but was surprised at the actual cost when I watched the news earlier this week.

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 27/07/2017 09:25

I buy with the Next account. Then once I know we aren't sending anything back I pay it off in full.

dementedpixie · 27/07/2017 10:24

But if you pay the full balance when it is due then you don't get charged interest. If you return the items if they don't fit then the funds are recredited to your next account and you don't have to pay any money out at all

Not to my DBs business. It's a sliding scale %age, based on throughput. It can work out over a £1 a transaction ...

cakesandphotos · 27/07/2017 15:18

@dementedpixie that's a really good point, I never thought of that! Although I do think there should be the option of paying by card as well

That's interesting as not what was reported on BBC breakfast. They were talking about how wrong it was for the DVLA to charge £2.50 for a 16p charge. It's obviously more complicated than they let on.

RJnomore1 · 28/07/2017 23:32

In fairness the dvla probably have a huge number of transactions so will be at the bottom of the scale.

Storecards opening offers are good if you want to make a large order and will pay it off the first month.

Next do decent interest free on furniture too I think. It's not all bad if you use it wisely.
