Who was being unreasonable? Diagram included

I hope the diagram provides help to decide who was being unreasonable.

DH and 1.5DS and myself are away on a holiday and have gone to a swimming pool this morning.

The swimming complex has a main pool and a toddler pool on the side which is separated by a concrete wall. The only way into the toddler pool is via steps on the side as the toddler pool has a glass wall on the ledge.
When we arrived there was a family already in the toddler pool (mum, dad and 2 DC) and the huge double pram was right in front of the steps into the pool. There was no other way to enter the toddler pool unless you were to go into the main pool and climb over the ledge... which is what my DH said we should do.
I thought it would be okay to ask politely if we can move the pram a bit back to open up some space for us to fit through (maybe 30 cm back).

I asked the people in the pool if I can move it for them so they didn't have to get out.
The man said... yes not problem but the woman said I have no right to touch her property. I said that it was fine but could she please move it a bit so we can use the pool. She just turned her back on me!
I admit... I saw red and moved her pram back.
There was a lot of muttering under her breath. I think both of the DHs looked uncomfortable and mine kept on saying we should have just entered the main pool and climbed over but with a toddler DS I didn't want to do that. Plus I wouldn't expect anyone to do that.
To me it was all rude and she was being very unreasonable but I could be wrong as I am still so so mad!

It was very polite of you to ask. I would have just moved it.

acornsandnuts · 27/07/2017 08:22

Do these people really exist?

C0untDucku1a · 27/07/2017 08:22

I think id have tipped it into the pool Grin but in my defense ive just finished reading the parking fhread and im still angry

clairewilliams999 · 27/07/2017 08:24

The unreasonable rhing in this scenario is letting it bother you on holiday. You know you weren't being unreasonable, just move the pram and get on with your holiday and don't think about it again

PonyPals · 27/07/2017 08:24

It is the hotel pool and it is not huge. I have a feeling she wanted to keep the pool to her self!
I'm glad others would do this too. I certainly don't want to be regretting standing up to her!

Sounds like she was blocking a fire-escape route. Not to mention prams are not normally allowed into wet areas for hygiene reasons (dirty wheels etc) so tell the staff. And no yanbu. And yes, she's a bellend.

MaidOfStars · 27/07/2017 08:32

As PPs say, it wouldn't have even occurred to me to ask.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/07/2017 08:33

I think you are being unfair.

We don't know if she needed the pram right by the pool because her baby is a baby mermaid.

They can't walk and carrying them is awkward, slippery little things that they are.

WeyHay · 27/07/2017 09:29

She was shockingly rude. I'd have moved it & talked to the management, to make a complaint.

What is it with some people? Why do they behave so badly?

gingergenius · 27/07/2017 13:30

Steath there are thousands of parents who take their kids swimming every day who manage without a pram. Assuming it wasn't a pram for an older, disabled child with mobility issues (in which case it STILL should not have been blocking a gangway/exit) then she was being a rude entitled and utterly unpleasant human being. Especially as her OH (in the pool with her) said it was fine to move it!!!

gingergenius · 27/07/2017 13:31

Oops. Just read the mermaid thing stealth sorry!!! Blush

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/07/2017 13:33

I would ask management to move pram as it's blocking access and a hazard

This^

LizzieMacQueen · 27/07/2017 13:35

DId the pram contain a baby?

coffeekittens · 27/07/2017 13:37

Anyone else ready for 6 weeks of pool related drama?

LloydColeandhisCoconuts · 27/07/2017 13:46

Good for you OP ywnbu.

Totally ready for all sorts of pool related drama! Wink I have nothing better to do at the moment. 38+ weeks and still waiting!

PonyPals · 27/07/2017 14:28

Nope. No baby in the pram. It was a double pram for the two toddlers in the pool.
I'm from Aus and it is freezing at the moment so pool drama is not very usual here for this time of he year Wink
And it was a heated indoor pool!

OP posts:
troodiedoo · 27/07/2017 15:11

it was a heated indoor pool!

Shock Plot twist!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/07/2017 03:53

I totally misread that as "heated indoor poo" - and thought "Urgh!" - and then read it properly Blush

IStoleDipsysHat · 28/07/2017 05:22

Is this an evolution of towels to keep sunbed?
A pram to keep a pool.
Yup that's exactly what she was trying to do, she was using the pram to claim the pool so no one else could use it.
Selfish twat.

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 28/07/2017 07:16

Silly woman.
I'm heading to the sun on Monday very early, I'll do running commentary if I find any wayward prams, sunbed hoggers, and leach type people who want to join me each day. I can't wait.

HipsterHunter · 28/07/2017 08:13

On no way in earth were you U. She was a crazy cow.
