To Wonder How People Manage To Write Like This?

I See So Many Comments Online Where Every Word Has A Capital Like This. Trying It Now And It's As Exhausting As It Seems. Are There Really People Out There Who Think This Is How The English Language Works?

It Is On A Website Not A An English SAT.

So I Couldn't Give A Shiny Shite.

As Long As It Is Readable.

PS. Yes I've Am Capitalising The First Word of Each Word Deliberately.

InferiorDecorator · 26/07/2017 13:48

If it's done in word, there's an option to change things to be like that without hassle.

moutonfou · 26/07/2017 13:53

P.S. I'm not judging, I'm just genuinely mystified as to why somebody would go to that effort unnecessarily. I found it really hard!

It's horrible to read. If I see a post like that I don't respond (this thread being the exception of course!)

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 26/07/2017 13:57

It really bothers me, I will admit but I'd rather see this than someone who is illiterate!

OhBeggerItsMorning · 26/07/2017 14:09

I can't read sentences with capital letters at the beginning of all the words like that very well at all. I automatically pause at each capital, just like I would after a full-stop, where the capital should be. But when reading in my head I read like I would out loud, pauses etc, I don't skim read or read faster in my head like most people do, so react to differences in how things are written. I think I also pause when reading names because of the capitals!

I also find it incredibly hard to type with caps at the beginning of each word, it makes my skin crawl, so as far as I am concerned YANBU to wonder why people do it.

Waffles80 · 26/07/2017 14:16

Doesn't bother me, but does perplex me.

It's surely a crazily time-consuming way of posting?

Or do some phones do it automatically?

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2017 14:17

I have never seen that. Are you talking about the Daily Mail comments section or something?

Waffles80 · 26/07/2017 14:35

On here, loads!

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2017 14:37

Really? I have honestly never noticed. Confused

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 26/07/2017 14:40

I find it difficult to read, so I don't usually bother.

I think if you post in a manner others might find difficult to read, you do risk fewer hits on your thread. But maybe the people doing it don't realise that, I think most commonly people do these things because they (mistakenly) think it's correct.

Tazerface · 26/07/2017 14:44

I have a friend who does this on Facebook. It's really offpitting - like OhBeggar I read it in my head with a pause before each word, it's tiring and I don't understand why anyone would do it?

I just don't read those comments in the main, they are that annoying.

ShakeShakeTheMuffin · 26/07/2017 14:47

YANBU bugs the hell out of me. Not quite as bad as all capitals, but I find it hard to read and it's too much like a clickbaity headline/'news' story. (Like the links at the bottom of the page I'm looking at right now!). But then I'm a perimenopausal grump!

BlondeB83 · 26/07/2017 14:48

I don't understand the reasoning behind it either.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/07/2017 14:51

Maybe they think they are Jane Austen. Lots of Random Capitalisation there.

BayLeaves · 26/07/2017 14:54

Yes, in the past capital letters were used much more liberally, sometimes just to emphasise a word. I think it's still the case in some other languages such as German, they capitalise all sorts of nouns. My husband is a native German speaker and I have to proofread any written projects he does as he has the tendency to incorrectly capitalise important words.
