Whinge about new neighbour

They are vacuuming and it sounds like a small jet engine having sex with a drill. They vacuum every night Sad They work 9-5. Why vacuum so late :(. I just wanted a whinge. I miss my old neighbours Sad

9.30 isn't that late but its when most people would be sitting down after dinner to watch a programme or relax and if upstairs flat get out the jet engined hoover (Mr D you have alot to answer for) then I can understand the annoyance

But surely, unless these flats are enormous, it's just ten minutes or so of background noise. And then it stops?

I blame laminate floors. Our lovely LoL neighbour had to go into residential care. When she lived next door we never heard a sound from her -even though she played the organ regularly- The new NDN are a young family who have laminate flooring no curtains and no bulky furnishings. All of which means we hear everything coughing, shouting toddler tantrums and dreadful dubz step music -according to my dd3-
But I am playing them at their own game and shortly am putting laminate down in our home, I may or may not also take up clog dancing :)

Every night is a bit much. I don't see 9.30 as late and neither do my neighbours but I always try and do it before 7/8pm and I def don't do it every night.

As a one off I would do it up to 10 pm but that would be once in a blue moon/emergency vacuum.

As PP have said, you start to wind and settle down after your tea and don't appreciate noise from your neighbours.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/07/2017 00:24

I think I would havea word along the lines of "I dont know if you realise but when you hoover it sounds really loud down stairs. Would you mind doing it a bit earlier please?"

I would be very embarrassed and would start hoovering much earlier if you told me that.

Slimthistime · 26/07/2017 10:17

yes, there should be a rule about wooden/laminate floors etc in flats. I know some places have the rules but don't enforce them.

I wonder what type of hoover they have but mine is really quiet.

that's another thing - house and garden tools should have a max noise level. "Power" is just another word for "makes a huge racket and annoys the crap out of everyone living within a square mile".

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/07/2017 10:19

May I suggest a spot of vacuuming at 6 in the morning, pay special attention to the cobwebs in the ceiling corners.

OhBeggerItsMorning · 26/07/2017 10:45

Are they actually using the vacuum, or just letting it run to cover up any sex other noise they could be making? Hearing a vacuum might be preferable to hearing the other noises they might be masking!

toosexyforyahshirt · 26/07/2017 10:51

they are actually breaking the Law hoovering so late

No they aren't.
