Potty training in someone else's house...

Maybe I am being uptight and maybe IABU but this has got my back up.
Friend and her 2 two DC's came to visit us today. Eldest is 2 and potty training. Rocked up with potty in tow etc and said 'apologies in advance for any accidents'. As it was, no accidents until just before they were leaving, a sizeable puddle appeared on the carpet. Guest asked 2yo if it was his accident, he said no. So guest said must have been from someone else and looked over at my 2 DC's who had been happily playing together the other side of the room. I have one in nappies and one toilet trained and much older so defo neither of them. Then they upped and left. AIBU to think she knew it was her DS's wee but didn't want to clean it up? Or that she trusted that her DS had told the truth when he said it wasn't him? They left too quickly for me to see if his trousers were damp or not but I just assumed she would accept responsibility for her son and clean it up...now I'm left with another child's wee on my carpet I now have to clean. I may be hormonal but I would never behave like that and I would have checked my DC to see if it was them and then acted accordingly....happy to admit if it is me BU

She was really rude

Majora · 25/07/2017 17:05

YANBU.

She should clean up her own child's pee! Yikes.

Nocabbageinmyeye · 25/07/2017 17:05

Yanbu. The accident wouldn't bother me but her dodging cleaning it and blaming my dc would

ambereeree · 25/07/2017 17:06

Thats so awful. Why did you not say something?

Miloarmadillo1 · 25/07/2017 17:06

YANBU! Surely you put unreliable 2yr old in pull-ups at someone else's house? Or at least bring your carpet spray with you?

Gingefringe · 25/07/2017 17:08

Yes, that is really rude and unpleasant.

Mind you, I found a big turd in our living room when one of my nephews was being potty trained - it was 'discovered' after they had left and can only assume it was his - we didn't have a dog at the time and my DC were teenagers.

Didn't said child have corresponding wet underwear/trousers? I would have thought it'd be difficult to blag that not being your kid unless it was naked

YANBU. When I was potty training my 2, I always told the host before we turned up to check it was ok and to be honest in the first few days I didn't go to other people's houses. Much easier. Really strange she basically denied it was her child too?!

Yanbu

Accidents happen but parents should apologise and clean up after their child
