AIBU- to give myself a middle name

I am getting married in a few weeks and will be changing my surname. I do not have a middle name and I'm considering giving myself one whilst I'm at it.

Is this a bonkers idea? I don't have a name in mind- I'd still have to pick one, but is it really weird?

And as an aside, if you could pick your own middle name would you, and what would it be?

sashh Oooh, did you need a witness to sign it? Or a solicitor to verify your witnesses at all??

(Trying not to derail the thread, honestly!)

"It used to be that you could be "known as" anything but this changed."

No it didn't - you can.

I dislike both my names and have no middle name, so have often considered changing them but not much of a link to anything. Did consider changing my surname to my grandmother's maiden name, it's a boring surname but boring is fine.

I've done my own deed poll to retain my maiden name as a middle name. The only place I've come across that wouldn't accept it was the GP, we compromised and used my marriage certificate for that (I'm not sure if they've put my maiden name in as a middle name, or not, I guess I'll find out next time I go). The bank and a couple of other places won't accept a deed poll on its own, but will accept a certified copy of my driver's license with the deed poll document, and you can change your driver's license with the deed poll alone.

I have a middle name, I never use it, pointless.
