To ask how you save money grocery shopping?

Been finding the price of groceries ridiculous recently. I'm a fan of yellow sticker food shopping in major supermarkets and the rest in budget (Aldi, B&M etc). Interested to know your strategies for saving money on food shopping? Are you an extreme couponer?

I honestly think the US couponers are extreme - one woman said she spends over 25 hours a week collecting and sorting her coupons into folders. The other thing is they are limited to what they can buy depending on coupons - this week one bought stuff like over 300 energy drinks, 50 razors, 60 packs of cereals, 400 loo rolls etc. A huge space in their house is given over to storage. Personally I would rather get a job than spend my life diving into dumpsters.

Balsamicbarbara Please tell me you are joking. Fill plastic bottles with water in the loos? WTF. I wouldn't drink the water from my own bathroom tap let alone where countless strangers' poo particles have been sprayed over the area. As for peeling the bananas - they would be black before you got them home. Yuk.

ido are you here in North New Jersey? If not there isn't much point being in the group. If you look on FB there are coupon groups in each area.

rorty I totally agree with you on the storage stuff. I use coupons to buy chicken sausages that I like which are expensive. I got 5 packs with the coupons and that was as far as I went with couponing. The same coupons come up every 3-4 months so there isn't much point in stockpiling.

I buy meat in bulk at the market (and freeze) and fruit and veg. Rest I shop in aldi for.

We usually plan a few days, get essentials for lunche/breakfast. Then it's anything with s yellow/orange sticker on. I shop mainly at Lidl.

Dh likes cheap coffee. A jar in Asda was £1.79, I bought it for £1.49 in Lidl. I do the super weekend deals, and the pick of the week veg.

Rorty was just giggling reading that thinking about the woman shaving both legs at the same time with a razor in each hand Grin
